Always get them to write on your copy of the agreement that there is no damage and the contents of the tank, I always return it full anyway. Verbal is pointless. They will then put a company stamp on it and it's your to keep. I always photograph the car when I leave it as well. Just stand your ground. You have to allow enough time to do this before you go to departures. I always have my own annual insurance and have not been pressurised into taking any additional for a number of year's now.

Hertz and Firefly are basically the same company and I've had problems with Firefly in the past.

Yes if you can, but you'll find you'll run out of good companies. I posted a thread 'Goldcar Again' on here on March 13th, detailing my last  experience with Goldcar, and put a warning out. However, to date no further charges have been made on my account, and the end result of the hire was good. Have a look , if you can't find the thread let me know.

Yes I know, I was adding to the car hire chat that my last experience with Gold Car under the name of Interent turned out just fine. I've said on several postings that whoever you book with, just make sure you allow plenty of time to hand back and make sure you get them to sign all OK and fuel etc. and take photos.Bring the papers away with you. I know most companies have gone electronic, but you can still get the paperwork signed and stamped. The fact that you do that emphasizes that you won't be messed about.

You must mean InterRent.

Both InterRent and Goldcar are owned by Europcar.

Must say I always found Goldcar very good, no problem in ten years, about 20 rentals in all.

This is extortionate.  €11 for fuel and €50 for admin...refuelling charge. Wow.

What was the 50€ admin charge for?

When you sign the rental agreement it should tell you what you're paying at that time i.e. Fuel, refueling charge etc. The terms and conditions will also tell you what all the admin charges are, such speeding fines etc. I have never seen a refueling charge of 50€ with any company. I'm not a supporter of Goldcar either having been ripped off in the past.

This is a very good platform forum. Useful info and discussion.  Love it.

Talking about car rental, why can't you bring your car over, if you have a property in Camposol, and leave it with a car park company that can look after it when you are away to the UK. You pay an annual fee for this.

Does anyone know of this type of company? It's like "PARK & RIDE" except it's your car and they will bring it to the airport on your return. It's worth exploring this.

What are the pros and cons of bringing your car over and leaving it in Spain as it's British registered?

Help help help to help others. Thank you in anticipation.
