Advice wanted please. I've read advice for people moving to Spain, after Brexit,  being exempt from customs duties on bringing household goods with them. However I want to bring some household goods from my home in the UK to my holiday home. They have been used at home in the UK, but I can't prove that they are more than 3 months old and therefore exempt from duties. Is there anywhere I can find advice on what I need in order to bring goods with me?

Margaret I,m in same boat, our Spanish home was ransacked in 2008, insurance Co refused to pay out, and we lost over £20k worth of belongings(totally filled 5 bed house incl the £5k cost to transport it all over in 2007. I, ve replaced most stuff but in Uk, no faith in Spain and been taking stuff over in a van but only since 2020 (done 2 loads) but then Brexit now hits us with customs and iva at 21% cos we, re not residents. We expected to go in March but obviously can't with Covid but I need to get proper info from customs to see if it's worth transporting. If you find a company which can transport without the iva which is applicable to non residents please let me know and if I find out more regarding customs etc I, ll let you know.

Regards

I’d try Ambrose logistics. You can find them on FB and the web. Try and talk to Jackie Ambrose. Very professional and they have had success with the new customs procedures. They are very helpful and price wise they are very good. I paid around £500 for a corner sofa, massive TV, huge exercise bike and tools. Great service.

Try ( Night Hawk ) they have confirmed that they have the proper paperwork now, to bring goods over with no import tax payable by the customer.

It that really correct ??

The courier cannot possibly be taking responsibility for people's personal imports & taxes due.

Surely that is up to the individual ??

You could be correct but only if the person is transferring residence. As a non resident(classed as a tourist) there is a 430€ personal duty free allowance if travelling by sea or plane(300€ if by road) and over that iva at 21% plus customs handling fees plus customers fee for paperwork is applicable, which all has to be paid in advance.

Hi Roland,

Spoke face to face with them , the lady confirmed paper work all now sorted, so no problems, I stated to her, residents are being made to pay big import tax on arrival of goods, she clearly told me they had sorted it, it was also on face book from her, so can only go by what she has said.

I am just awaiting some one who has ordered goods, and is awaiting to see this is correct on arrival of those goods.

Then I will go ahead,

There is another firm I used ( Rawhide ) last year for guttering to be brought over, so just trying to contact them now. and see their position, as they were very good.
