Sorry, but what you have read is fact. You will need an income of at least €25k per annum, or a large fortune, to qualify for permanent (5 years anyway). Yet another benefit of Brexit?

Go to the Spanish government  web site, and look up the rules of Schengen.  It is all clearly laid out. Including the facts about taking the Spanish driving test.

Have you also heard  that you now have to have a military agreement to buying a property this close to the coast??? Evidently it applies to those living in a 3rd area country. Which of course we are now.

Hi Ali

We are purchasing on camposol and our lawyer has checked that you don't need the military certificate for camposol. We live in villa Martin area of orihuela costa at present and our area requires the military certificate. Our villa is sold to a couple from the uk. They put down a deposit in October last year and completion date set for 1st March when they would have cashed in pensions etc. But now brexit has caused them problems. They had POA already with spanish lawyer but it didnt include applying for a military certificate. So firstly they had to apply for police checks, find a solicitor and notary open in the UK to get extended POA in a tier 4 lockdown area!!! They have their paperwork now and it's in the foreign office being aposiled. When that's done it'll come to their spanish lawyer and he can start the process of applying for the military certificate. We spoke to the estate agent yesterday and she filled us in with all this information and said to not expect moving until at least end of June. We have a completion date of 1st April for our villa in camposol as its rented out until end of march. So will have to get lawyers talking to each other to sort all this out. All good fun. All the best Lynn

Hi Ali. Thanks for your kind words. This is one of the reasons we wanted to move to camposol to be around people. We of course visited there and mazaron a few times before we commited to putting a deposit down. The forum is so helpful and most people have been so kind and supportive. I presume you live there full time then?

If you don't mind can I PM you?

Thanks Lynn
