Could anyone give me the correct details of how long I can stay in Spain please. I was last there October 27th 2021 and would like to come back again late March 2022, is this okay to do under the new rules please,

It depends on the actual date you return to Spain. You need to count back 180 days from this date and work out how many days you were in Spain in that 180 period. Allowance is 90 in every 180.

Using this calculator makes it easy

What date did you arrive prior to exit on 27th October? Without that, the calculator won’t work. On the calculator, input the entry and exit dates for your last trip, then press green button to add the dates for your trip in March

Here you go, based on those dates, according to calculator you could stay until 20th June. Screenshot attached.

The key point about the 90/180 rule is that it is a DAILY rolling beast. In order to know how much of your 90-day "allowance" you have left, you need to look back where you have been over the previous 180 days. Since the picture changes daily, you will also have to do a little forward planning. As an example, I arrived in Spain on 27 September 2021, with my full 90 days "allowance" i.e. I hadn't been to any (other) EU country in the previous 180 days. I stayed in Spain for 55 days. That, in effect, means that I still had 35 days of my "allowance" left. Since I started my stay in Spain on 27 September, my 180-day period starts to run from that date, which takes me (for the purposes of this example) to  25 March 2022. However, I still have 35 days of my "allowance" left that I could use within this 180-day period. If I count 35 days BACK from 25 March, then the earliest I could return would be 18 February. I could then stay for up to a FURTHER 90 (35 + 55) days, because for each day I stay beyond my (original) remaining "allowance" of 35 days, the days I used from last September fall outside my (latest) 180-day period - because, as I said at the start, it's a DAILY rolling beast. Simples!

Difficult I know but my understanding is that you can stay upto 80 days in Spain and then you must be out of the xountry for 90 days before you can return.

Seem to me if you left at the end of October then you cannot return until February, so I think you are good (exact dates not withstanding)

Last time we visited was end of August last year so we have booked 3 trips this year, first one in May, that come to a total of 89 days spread over the whole of the Summer which we have been advised is acceptable under these rules.

Hope that is accurate and helps

It's not accurate! It's not 80 days - it's 90 days in any ROLLING 180 days, as Cyril 392 explained above! Use the Schengen calendar.
