I phoned Brittany Ferries. They said they agreed with our position and are approaching authorities to see if the time scale can be amended to within 72 hours of boarding ship. Still not long in some cases but would be a big improvement for me. Only other thing is to prey they release lockdown so its not required. And just use the system that is in place at moment for flying into Spain . Which you can get from a app on your phone.

My understanding is that is 72 hours before boarding, not arrival.

Hi. Unfortunately not. Its 72 hours before arriving in Spain.

A quick look on the web shows that Honeyman Laboratories (in Barnard Castle - honestly, you couldn't write it...) will do a PCR test with a turnaround of "usually" 24 hours for £109 ea. You get the test pre delivered at home, then you could stop off at Barnard Castle on the way to the south coast (it's a 24 hrs / 7 days a week service), do the swabs in your car, drop them off there and then and continue your travel to Spain. You should get the results via e mail on a pdf within 24 hours which should be before your dock in Spain. I'm assuming here that the Spanish authorities will accept looking at a file on your phone/laptop/tablet as well as an actual piece of paper.

Hi. Thank you for your help. Yes I'm told a digital certificate is ok. One problem is . The ferry company will not let you board without that certificate. For obvious reasons. If the testvwas inconclusivebor God forbid positive. They then have a major crisis on their hands. So until I have the certificate I cant board the ship unfortunately. But the test may still be an option at Barnard Castle. Would mean travelling a day earlier. Hoping out tests come the next day as we travel down in time for the sale. Ist still a big if. But a possibility. My head is now crushed with all this covid crap.

Some good news though - you can always get your eyes tested in Barnard castle at the same time......? LOL.
