Nice ideas. But I would think you need a basic car licence to be able to take HGV test.
And we are both on with matriculating our Harleys which is costing a fortune. Be most upset if we can’t ride them!

You do have a lot of your lives invested in the transport line!    Lets hope UK Gov and Spanish Transport get their act together and agree a straight exchange of licences.

...d not be that complicated and instructors should certainly not fail anyone with a British driving licence.

I lived in many foreign countries where the only requirement was to get a local driving licence as the British driving licence is highly recognised. But Spain has higher standards hasn't it? Laughable is the word...

Spain may have different standards but the UK's decision to leave the EU is 100% the cause of the current situation.

Not quite so, Covid 19 and the fact that many could not get appointments for either residencia or driving licences did not help.  many months were lost and Spain, a;long with the rest of Europe might easily have give a few more months grace.

Agree! The red tape in Spain is the cause...

Agreed Andy.

In addition, Spanish Traffico have changed requirements unilaterally and in contradiction of the Spanish DGT website.

Disappointing, as followed advice/instructions, along with others, and now left in limbo.

I can also add that the UK Gov actually gave Spain millions in funds to take on additional staff in all key areas to help with issues such as applying for residency!   I think, but not absolutely sure, that the Spanish CAB was givenp some of the funding.    However, as you say, Covid, sickness and lockdowns were the main culprits for the ridiculously long delays in processing apps.

Spain said that those of us who applied for TIE in 2020 who were waiting for a resolution in 2021 could pre register to exchange their driving licence. We then have until end of June to do this exchange.
But now DGT say no. We cannot exchange. Although we did everything as they asked.
