Hi

Is the spanish driving test easy please also are there any British teachers

Thank you

Annette

Hi Annette,

How easy is it ?   I suppose that depends on how much regular driving you do and how much swatting up on spanish traffic laws and driving rules.  Our swatting starts now!

I googled How to pass your spanish driving test in Mercia -

There seems to be a number of on-line and physical lesson instructors who will guide you through the process.  One we read said you can take your test in english but must stipulate this on your application forms.  It costs a little more.

The process is in 3 parts:

1)  Eye sight test - done at a local centre.  We used San Javier.  Read a chart and answered questions about health.  This was for the exchange from UK to Spanish licence.  But like many despite being resident here since June 2020 and getting all our paperwork in on time.   The Spanish Traffic Dept,. has refused the app. because our TIEs didn't arrive until January 2021!  So we're also going to have to take the test.

2) Theoretical:   You're asked about 30 questions on road usage/laws.  You can have upto 3 errors before a fail.

3) Practical:   On-road driving test.  Just like in UK.

So wishing us all good luck :)) Annie

Hi,

As someone as already said, the test is in 3 parts.  Theory, driving lessons and practical,  You will need an eye test before they allow you to sit the theory.  The test consists of 30 questions of which you have to get a minimum of 27 correct.  I joined a driving school in Lorca, was given a 'driver manual', the Spanish highway code, and an on line learning tool, all in English.  .  I sat and passed mine yesterday, all 30 correct so I;'ll have a drink tonight.  You will then need a few driving lessons which are mandatory before sitting the Spanish practical which is conducted in Spanish.  I am hoping that after a few driving lessons I will have enough Spanish to be able to understand the examiner.

Best of luck.

All a damned nonesense really. I've been driving for 50 years but that couints for nought.

Sorry to be a bit thick... did you do the theory test on line or go to a centre?

PS:   How much are the lessons costing if you don't mind us asking.  Thanks, Annie.

Hi ANne. Not sure what you mean by a Main Posting?

No you have to go to an authorised centre, mine was Lorca University.

The course will be anything from 360 euro to  450 euro depends upon the school.  Then 35 euro for each driving lesson.

Hi,

Sorry I wasn't clear.

It doesn't matter, Catzoo.  If you do an update to your original response everyone posting on this topic will get notified anyway.

Hubby says that our Gestor has already tried the route of proving we were registered as residents as far back as Aug 2020 and submitted for TIEs in Sept 2020.   But the Traffic Dept are being 'Jobs Worthies' and not adhering to their own governments guildelines on this matter.

In the meantime, we're going to play the odds.  I will register for the driving test and Chris will wait to see if the UK do get an agreement beforehand.  If so, I can cancel the test.
