I make a very good paella for 6 people with seafood and chicken and lots of veggies for not even 40 euros. Of course it's a little work but that's part of the fun :-)

Cooking is fun and we wouldn't give that up even in Spain. We also enjoy eating out and mainly Spainish, however, it is more healthy to have home cooked meals and it is really good fun cooking and sharing at the table. Anyway, the choice is there and good food does not need to be expensive. Just enjoy the fresh produce, the sun and Spain.

So what to do:

Menu del Dia down in Viggo's - salad, first course, main course, afters, glass of wine 10/11 euros  about £9  followed by a pleasant walk along the promenade.  Try and get that in the UK?

Hi Howard.

It's in Ally Palleys on B. Ask at the bar.(sorry about the spelling).

In Mazarron town there is a small in door market which sells good quality vegetables. Cheaper than chips!!!

As you go into the town it's up a side street on the left. Sorry I don't know the address.

Just to get back to some comments; not only are there many voluntary groups to join, if you have a hobby you want to explore, there are normally others that have a similar interest who may well join you on a new venture as well. Try it! Most of the bars are friendly and happy to help if it means more trade, assuming it's in doors!.if it's out doors, Spain has plenty of wide open countryside!

Hope this helps

Ray

O.K. I went  to Torquay.  It was raining, windy and wet. Into Weatherspoons and said ' I want a bottle of wine between 2, a plate of salad, a dish of stew, followed by fish and chips then a nice slice of cake, and a coffee to  finish off with.  All for £9 each'.  Incredulous looks all round. ' You are having a laugh' they said.  So I went back in the rain and the wind and went on my way.  Funny old world isn't it.

This thread has made me laugh.

I think some people have missed the tongue in cheek side of some of the comments.

The Op wanted ideas for things to do .

Eating , drinking and socialising is obviously one way of spending time, and there are options for all budgets.

As for things to do.

try doing a bucket list it can all be achieved out here .

learning to sail.

snorkelling

scuba diving .

walking

cycling

bowls.

walking football.

Just learning your way around takes up time and can be fun. As previous posts have said there is something on , every weekend. however don't forget things sometimes don't get off and running till 2100 and go on into the we hours .

but getting bored is due to a lack of imagination.

also if you are bored you can always come on here and post a micky taking post stand back and watch it unfold .

enjoy.
