But you mentioned takeaways nobody else, and that was your question "who mentioned takeaways"
anyone ever heard of salad on here?
The U.K. has appauling rates of obesity etc.
Spanish produce is lovely, fresh fruit and veg, fish, rice dishes.
It is how you cook it that matters, I have had lovely meals in Spanish restaurants, u.k. restaurants are usually over-priced with poor service, give me Spain any time.

But then I would not be eating out would I. We do frequent a spanish restaurant which only sells English or Italian style food and four of us can eat there for less than €120 which compared to UK prices is very reasonable.
You are clearly from a different salary bracket than most retired/semi retired people out here; 120 euros is a lot of money for a meal for 4 people.
I can feed 6 adults and 5 children for 80 every 4 days - three courses, plus snacks and lunches by shopping for fresh fruit and veg at the market, meat from the local butcher and cooking/BBQ at home. Many people have far less than 120 euro a week to live on, let alone spend on a meal out. It would be good for you to be more aware of that, rather than assuming that everyone has the same amount to spend 'eating out'.
Surely you don't eat out every day? We all like to eat out, however, we came to Spain to live as the Spanish do, which includes the food/recipes and diet of this country - we are not here on holiday, we LIVE here and act accordingly. My sister in law is Spanish, and never once in the 42 years of knowing her has she ever served anything 'swimming in oil' - you have lcearly experienced a very poor cook at some point which has sadly coloured your view and narrowed your options.

Ignore him Kate, I agree with you having lived here 14 years, why waste all that money when as you say you can eat a lot healthier shopping and cooking at home
I make a very good paella for 6 people with seafood and chicken and lots of veggies for not even 40 euros. Of course it's a little work but that's part of the fun :-)

I don't have enough hours in the day, no time to get bored. If he plays any sports there is a wide variety, I spend 2 days a week playing snooker. Spain is a large country and well worth getting out and about to see some of it. What activities did he have in the UK.
You’ve got a snooker hall ...brilliant .

Agree Oink..
This exchange of mails Oink has put me off visiting this place to look for property. If some of these comments were made by Spanish people living in England, a lot of responses would be "go home then...." , probably with more choice words too.

I am sure there are plenty of things to do here, but I think I will look elsewhere which is more Spanish and respect Spain, its people, its culture more than some people in Camposol... David
David, if you are looking for true Spanish lifestyle, then Camposol ex pat community is not the right place for you. Try the smaller urbanisations and villages; Sucina in Costa calida has a smallish ex pat community but is predominantly spanish. Coin in Malaga (pronounced co een) is a typical Spanish village with a British RBL community and in the mountains...30 mins drive from Nalaga airport.
If youo wonder how to fill your days, read the Costa Calida Chronicle. You will have enough days :-D
