I only read the first couple of lines of this answer and thought I had better reply. You don't have to be an official resident at all to be self employed. In fact you have to wait a min of 3 months as you need to prove income over here.FACT

Another couple of newbies here as well (hopefully) we are viewing properties on Saturday 14/9 with a view to buy. Any advice on Monsora villas?

Hi there...

Good luck in your search...😆

As for the Monsora Villas don't know what you want to know about them?🤔. ..all depends on how small/big/cost/location you are looking at.... as for us they weren't what we were looking for.

We wanted something with more space. .. we did by a fortuna on sector B21.

What ever you choose...use all estate agents you have access to....ask lot lots lots of questions. ..look in all sectors, A.B.C and D...when you have all your  questions answered and fallen in love with 'the  one'  then and only then part with you money.

Another World Properties on B ....had 'the one ' for us😆 but use  all agents on Camposol....

Gloria and Gordon Smith.😉

Susan, we were in pretty much the same financial situation as you at the beginning of this year. I expect financial wizards will scream IDIOT at me but..... We  both put our company pensions into drawdown an took our 25% tax free lump sum, then cashed in the endowment on our UK house, lo and behold we had enough to buy our Rosa on D outright. On sale of UK house we paid of last of mortgage and are left with a nice sum to invest/live from until pensions kick in  in a few years time. Might not be the best use of money for some/most but meant we went from looking to moving in in less than four months and best of all we have both managed to retire early 😁🍹🏜

One other possibilty that might have been possible f vendors were agreeable would have been a version of "rent to buy". We never followed up on this but it seems a large deposit followed by renting for a fixed term followed by a final settlement once UK house sold has been known occasionally, where vendors are keen to sell/been on market a long time. You never know?

We are in the same boat, Susan 007,  we found a villa we really liked but we couldn’t raise enough money  to buy  it before selling our uk home so are having to wait, sadly that villa is now under offer, but I’m a great believer in what’s meant to be will be.  Like you I’d move tomorrow if I could x
