Not that I disagree with the consensus but things like this need balancing out

India is the worlds fifth richest economy, surely they should direct their own money to those most impoverished than rely on the Western World and having us believe they are poor, they have a space programme after all  ...

...

Secondly, it was reported today on skynews that as many as 150,000,000 (thats million) people will descend on a temple for a religious festival, pictures today were shown there with no masks and no social distancing in place

Thirdly, the recent India v England cricket series allowed circa 50,000 spectators into the ground to watch when clearly this is not under control in their country, why would they do this if they cared?

Whilst I am all for helping people, they need to want to be helped in the first instance and India (as lovely as they are) have the capabilities to help themselves first and choose not to by lifting restrictions

I think 100,000,000 (thats million) vaccines in 85 days proves they have the infrastructure to handle things when they choose to do so

Now, how is the weather in southern spain, fingers crossed we all get to use this forum for holidaying tips moving forward and not how we can bail out the fifth richest country in the world

Have a spectacular evening everyone

Kindest regards

Totally agree with everything you have said.

I don't know about India needs help but Apu from the Simpsons does ?On a lighter note the voiceover man has just resigned due to ?after all these years of all things racism. The world has certainly gone bonkers because nearly all Indians I know have a slang to their voice.Just like me a Yorkshire man its crazy. On a serious note take a closer look at France? 5.3 mil covid cases and fast approaching the UK total of deaths as well as Italy.

I disagree with a few points Danboy raised.

First, the 5th wealthiest is from the National net wealth, also known as national net worth, is the total sum of the value of a nation's assets minus its liabilities. It refers to the total value of net wealth possessed by the citizens of a nation at a set point in time. From "Indian Economy" - India suffers from extreme income inequality. It is estimated that 80 percent of the total national wealth is held by the top ten percent of the population. That's probably true of the world. So this wealth is not owned by the Government but individuals, individuals who are amongst the wealthiest in the world. Its a shame that mostly all wealthy people care about themselves only.

By looking at the GDP per capita, wealthiest countries are:

  1. Luxembourg (GDP per capita: $119,719)
  2. Norway (GDP per capita: $86,362)
  3. Switzerland (GDP per capita: $83,832)
  4. Ireland (GDP per capita: $81,477)
  5. Iceland (GDP per capita: $78,181)
  6. Qatar (GDP per capita: $65,062)
  7. The United States of America (GDP per capita: $64,906)
  8. Denmark (GDP per capita: $63,434)
  9. Singapore (GDP per capita: $62,690)
  10. Australia (GDP per capita: $58,824)

I don't know where India is on this list.

Yes the space programme is extravagant and shouldn't be happening. Money mismanagement by the government.

Yes, unfortunately Indian people, especially the poor, put religion above anything, god will save them, it would take a very brave politician to ban the event, which it should be.

Yes cricket matches should have restriction as should all other elite gatherings which only the rich can attend. Again politicians don't want to upset the rich??

I don't have any answers unfortunately, but it does affect us all in the end. As always it takes a few good people to make the difference. I don't know what we as individuals can do to help. Rich governments will have/want to take care of their own before sharing excess vaccines. (at moment their is no axcess)

...t

Yes they are recording new deaths but have now implemented what a minister said in a TV interview "we will have a 1 week closer" not a lock down for a long period like other countries, including us here in Spain, where the epidemic has receded.

India allowed a religious festival to go ahead with no social distancing and no masks.

As previous comments on this forum India is a very wealthy country so maybe they should be helping there poor.

I did not see you posting for help for America, Italy or China for example, so why the great interest in India???

Sadly it doesn't help when you have 1to 2 million people queuing up to bathe in the ganges for religious festival no social distancing, think the government has to get a grip.
