In France what are called bergamots, shown below, are also called citron beldi or limonette de Marrakech or Moroccan limetta elsewhere, and shipped from Tunisia or Morocco. Citrus limetta is a species of citrus often referred to as sweet lemons or sweet limes. According to the University of California horticultural website, Citrus limetta Risso (or what are called bergamots in France) “are sometimes incorrectly referred to as bergamots.

I thank you all for your interest in my strange citrus fruit. I have been looking on the internet for sweet lemon recipes as we have so many of them. Apparently they can be juiced, i’ll Give that a go and you can make bergamot chutney, which I assume you eat with fish. I hate it when food goes to waste so will give things a try.

Hi Ginger

We have 2 of these trees in our garden too, I've always thought they were lemon trees, whenever we are over in Spain they always go well sliced and popped in my gin and tonic😉

Enjoy
