Hi PJ, we bought our property through Resort villas murcia . Cornelis and his team were superb, very professional. He sorted out the bank and solicitors for us , all very simple.
You should budget for about 10% on top of your purchase price for all the taxes , insurance etc . We are really pleased with our purchase, as a builder in the UK i think the quality of the apartments are superb at a great price. I have bought a LHD car in UK and will be driving down loaded with stuff soon

Hi Garry
I am also buying through Cornelius and have found them to be very helpful. Out of interest did you buy your LHD from a dealer or privately as I ma looking to do the same?
Cheers

Hi Paul, I bought it off ebay from a private sale . Its a Peugeot 208, it's originally from Chech Republic, a chap bought it to take to his holiday home in Bulgaria but never got there because of covid. I will need to register it when I get to Spain. I was thinking of buying a car in Spain but they are quite old, high mileage and very expensive
Regards Garry

Remember that if you buy a vehicle from outside Spain and then take it there, you need to have it 'matriculated' - it will need a new ITV (MOT), possibly adjustments to headlights and registered and put on to Spanish registration plates.
Also you will need to pay Import Duty, which is based on a depreciation versus the original new price of the car and it's emissions. This applies, unless you are bringing the car with you as part of your one-off permanent move to become a Spanish resident. Therefore, if you're buying a holiday home and want to import a car to leave in Spain, you need to pay the Import Duty.

I agree re the price of second-hand cars over there. Lots of cash and mileage. I need to sell mine here first and then buy one here to drive down.

Hi Rich T yes I know all that and I am in contact with someone who can sort it all out for me. Its a bit more expensive than I anticipated but I will have a good runabout that will hopefully last a good few years
