Can anyone advise me where I need to go to change my UK driving license to a Spanish version?

I have just moved to Hacienda Riquelme, near Sucina.

Thanks

Hi Karen, I also need to exchange my licence. When I mentioned it to our translator a few weeks ago she said we would need a medical etc.

I thought it was only when you RENEWED a licence you needed a medical and that just EXCHANGING it (Canje de oficio) was a straightforward swap. What did you have to do?

I changed my licence in January and needed a medical, but it may depend on age

Hi there,

I exchanged my British License for a Spanish one as it was going to run out in April, also being Residentia it is a legal requirement. Age may come into it, I am 55, I had a 'medical' in the building next door to the Police station. My translator was with me. The medical was a few questions about if I was on medication, any operations had or pending, then a very very simple eye test, reading three letters from a chart on the wall (if you wear glasses for driving you can wear them at this point!).

Then into another room where a photo was taken, there was a test on a laptop to see how your coordination is - again very very simple, that was it. I was in the 'medical' for approx 8 minutes. It was around 24 euros.

The Police station part was fine, another 5 minutes.

Hope the above info helps!!

Hello,

Thanks for the information.

Which Police Station did you have to go to?

Did you have to make an appointment first?

Can you provide details of your translator?

Cheers

Martin

Hi, my translator made my appointment using the Government booking site.

It was all done in Cartegena.

As I said before, my translator was Ana, +34 676 15 50 07 WhatsApp or call.

Hi Karen,

Sorry for the confusion, I did not realise I was talking to you!!

I sent a Whatsapp to Ana this afternoon when you gave me her details, but so far, even though she has read my message, she has not replied, this is why I was trying to find out more information.

If she does not reply by tomorrow lunchtime, I will email her on the details you have supplied.

Thanks again.

Regards

Martin
