Is anyone finding it difficult to deal with their Spanish banks.? It would appear that client direct debits are not being paid timeously.

Is there a problem that as yet I have not been informed.?

I find Spanish banks notoriously unhelpful to older clients, especially English who do not have good Spanish language. Santander specifically. - I would not recommend them to anyone. - High unnecessary charges for postages for uneeded receipts, never communicating in translatable English to English clients, charging for debit and credit cards, even if not used often etc etc.  Just today I have been sent (in Spanish) an e.mail exhorting me to pay my pension directly into the bank and promising €150 bonus for doing so - Great , but they must know I have been doing this for the past 20 years - Doh?  I slate them for bad service every time they contact me for customer rating but nothing changes. I must say though that the only time I has a DD not paid was when the water company typed a wrong number into the payment system.

That's why a lot of us don't use Spanish banks.

If it's your community Fee direct debits, its because IMHO haven't taken them as they're still doing the minutes of the AGM which detail the new charges. I've had this confirmed via email.

Hi,

I'm curious:

I thought that one had to have a Spanish bank account in order to pay IBI, non-resident tax, utility bills, etc.

I certainly wish it wasn't so, as over 65s have free banking here in Ireland and I find Spanish bank charges exorbitant.

You most certainly do not have to have a Spanish bank account to pay your direct debits.

Although some Spanish companies will try to tell you that you do.

Many of us on this forum use Wise.com

To pay our Spanish DD.
