Re "investment": it costs you c 15% on top of the price to buy, then if you want to sell almost the same 15% allowing for estate agent commission and taxes, so you would need to see an increase of between 25 % 30% to break even, let alone turn a profit. This does not account for any work needed or done to make it "yours", furnishing, removals...and you will have IBI, insurance, possibly community fees and regular painting.

I am not saying it is necessarily a bad idea for you, just don't kid yourself you are doing it to make or save money.

If you go on a holiday you spend £££whatever and hopefully enjoy it. One could look at a holiday home in the same way, an expense rather than an investment.

You Pay this in fees across Spain, and many other countries. It isn’t bland at all, the hills to north around Murcia city are glorious and the city of Cartegena is historic and has much to see. It has those open top buses so much have something going for it.

However, I’d recommend you view before doing anything. Most people here really like it. With over 2500 properties onsite you get those for sale, add to that the difficult times we’ve had you get more. That’s not the whole story though.

I would strongly advise against buying unseen.  La Torre isn’t really near anywhere and you will definitely need transport. There are onsite restaurants but I was there last week and it was deserted, and many of these were shut.   I guess that’s not unusual for this time of year.

It’s expensive to move in Spain, so if you find this isn’t for you, it’s an expensive mistake to make.

if you want a golf course, try Mar Menor Golf Resort which is lovely and about 10mins by car to Los Alcazares.  Depending where you are on the resort, Roda Golf is a bit closer.  Both will have plenty of rentals to try before you buy.  Again, really for both of these you will need a car there is no public transport.

I would look at then Orihuela Costa much more vibrant and a bonus is the beaches are on the Med.
