We don't have cable and use Wimax Online for the broadband - this works via a dish pointing at a ground-based antenna. This costs us €30.25 per month.

We use Rainbow Satellites for the TV and pay €30 per month for just about every channel under the sun!

In general, it's very reliable, apart from if there's a storm, etc. which you can understand must affect the signal. If we have a problem, we also turn the wi-fi off on our mobile phones and other devices (which seems to help a little).

Thanks for that. Interesting about turning off WiFi on your phones if you have a prob.

Our problem is at the same time every night, although now and then we have a problem free night.  They’ve put in a bigger antenna, a more powerful router, but still no Improvement.

We changed from WiMAX to IPSecurity internet because it’s based locally and at first it was much better. Thinking now we might change back. We pay 29.99 for 25 Megas  which should be loads. In the mornings we have almost 20 download speed but the evenings struggle to get to 15 which is the minimum required for IPTV or Netflix.

I'm not very technically minded, but I thought that maybe it's a capacity issue for the area - by 9pm, everyone has finished eating and settling down in front of the tv, online gaming, etc. so the usage is at it's peak. Not much that you could do about it, I guess.

We wondered that too but the technician was surprised that we have a problem At that time. Normally they have problems first thing. But really, I don’t think he had much idea.

Do you have fibre optics? We were with WiMAX and signal kept dropping at popular times so we couldn’t watch television or use mobiles or iPads for downloads etc as it was too slow. We asked WiMAX but they didn’t do fibre optic so we changed to moviestar. We now have super fast broadbands.

Thanks Pamela. Not tech savvy but I’m guessing you need a cable for fibre optics? There is a cable which was here when we bought the house but it’s always been rolled up behind some furniture. I’ll look into it.

I am with some firm in Murcia    (Wi-Max)   have been looking at Flexa networks   1,000 mb     50 Gb   €29.90 per month  for internet   telephone  &  TV  or €10.90 for 600mb  15 Gb     ...

...;for fibra optica & TV

(with many uk  stations)     www.flexa.tv

I hope you do not find this question rude    Floki   is that a Viking name ? of a god?

Hi Dave,

Sorry, I’ve just seen your email. Thanks for the information.

Floki was a slightly eccentric character in the series Vikings. I’d love to say it was the name of a god or goddess, but it’s not. It’s a great series, but maybe you’ve seen it.
