Thats great news Frank.

Let me know how it goes. Do you know if they will take a preliminary appointment, just to ensure we are filling out the forms correctly ?

I've not heard of anyone having a Prelim appointment.....which Consulate are you having to go to?

Manchester have been very good in responding to a couple of questions I had.... send them an email and ask.

Hi, Thank you Frank.

Yes I do have a copy of this but those instructions only cover the 1st page. There appears to be two copies of the same page and a 3rd page .. !  ? Confusing. :)

As I read it, Page 1 is for the 'Principal'...page 2 for 'Complementaria'....page 3 for any additional notes..

I completed page 1 only (ticking the Principal box) and did one form for me and a separate one for my wife.

I'll find out if I've got it right on Tuesday!

Hi Frank,

Tremendous info thank you.

We would also be using the Manchester Consulate as we live in Stockport.

Hoping to be in Spain by Feb or March 2022. I have quotes for medical and vehicle ins as we will be driving down and getting our car transferred to Spanish plates.

Be great to know how you get on at your appointment.

Good luck.

G

Hi

A few points:

Check which forms need to have a 'Sworn Translation' and plan this. My solicitor did mine, but otherwise you'll need to find an approved company / person - I think I was quoted £30 per document for these.Your Hague Apostilles should take about 10 days to turnaround.Medical insurance - my understanding is that you need private healthcare for the first year, even if you qualify for an S1. I would check this asap, as it's a significant extra cost if you need private healthcare (as I believe you do).Stamping documents - none of mine were 'stamped' by the bank, etc. and that didn't cause any issues, but if you can get them done, I guess that helps. We also had a copy of our house deeds (even if they are not on the list, we were advised to provide them).CheersRichard

hi Rich T, It was also my understanding that you have to have private medical insurance for year 1.

is there anyone that can confirm that this is the case and that you can use form S1 in the following years.

also, has anyone found competitive insurance yet.

regards, john

Hi Richard will be along to answer himself, but yes you have to have Private Medical Insurance, paid up front for the year and with no Copayments. The cost of this will vary as to your age and medical history.

You can't register an S1 form unless you are resident

Hope this helps.

Frank

Yes, for the NLV, you need private medical insurance, with no co-payments, paid in full up front and 'live' at the time of your application.

At renewal - frankly, I don't know. I'm only 51, so my S1 is a long way off. I have accepted that I need private medical insurance for the first 5 years.

I've just done a quick google search and it's not clear at all.

Just back from the Manchester Consulate.

Our appointment was for 12.00…but we got there earlier and within a few minutes we were seen. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and they went through our documents to ensure everything was there. She asked a few questions, pointed out where I hadn’t signed a form, then sent me to the payment window.

All done and out in probably 15 minutes.

Just have the wait now…..

Yes it’s very unclear. I would have thought this type of enquiry would be quite important as most with a uk state pension are entitled to apply for the S1.
