Hello everyone. Just needing other people's opinion here. We have friends and family in the UK who want to come out towards the end of summer and stay with us in our home. They will only travel if they have been vaccinated, which they probably will be by then. If we haven't been vaccinated we will still be susceptible to infection. The vaccinated may still pass the infection to the non vaccinated but Spain wants tourists back. This is fine if we take precaution in the street but what about having people in our home? Should we be saying don't come - which is obviously not what we want to do. Any ideas on this dilemma.
Non-residents or non-nationals are not allowed in to Spain at the moment. Anyone travelling without proof of one or the other will either be denied boarding at departure or turned around on arrival. Based on news reports, that is not likely to change anytime soon. So no tourists or family likely soon either. The would seem that the state of alarm will stay inforce until May the 9th.

Hi I’m sure by the end of the summer they will be fine everything depends on the road map Boris has in place and of course Spain allowing us in. The road map is looking likely to let us fly after the 17th May but by the 21st June all restrictions to be lifted if the road map works. We truly hope so and I’m sure Spain needs the Brits back too. Stay positive and stay safe x

Thank you for your replies but as I live in Spain my question was - if we are not yet vaccinated here by the time tourists are allowed to travel to Spain, surely there is a question over our safety? Should relatives book flights or leave it?

I guess there are two key issues here:
- If the vaccination programme is slower in Spain, then the Spanish government needs to decide whether it wants the economic benefits of allowing (vaccinated) tourists to holiday in Spain versus the health risk to it's non-vaccinated residents.
- The personal wishes of you, your family & friends. They may want a holiday and want to see you, but do they want to put you at risk of being infected with Covid? And, do you want to see them and provide them with a holiday residence, whilst knowing that this is a risk for you?

Thanks RichT. The points you put are exactly the ones we are considering now especially as even the scientist don't know the risk of vaccinated people carrying and transferring covid to non vaccinated.

I checked yesterday with our health centre. They said that only the over-80s in the general population are being vaccinated at moment, and that roll-out is slow. It looks like it would be well into or after the summer before even the mature folk would have both jabs, so I would put them off until 2022.

Thanks for your reply. It's a real shame but unless Spain really gets a hurry on I think the same however I think the majority of UK citizens think they are going to be in those planes as soon as they get their jabs.

I think this is a question no one else can answer on your behalf or advise you. It is totally personal to you and your family. We are all hoping we will see visitors return for summer BUT none of us can say for certain this will or will not happen. As has been the norm in this virus we are all hanging by a thread for last minute decisions from the government. And they probably can’t give an answer yet. I am Over 70 and have no idea when I will get my vaccine here in Spain. Had I still been in the U.K. I would have already been vaccinated. Let’s just hope Spain gets a wriggle on with vaccinations
