It really depends where you're planning to be on the Mar Menor as to the quality of the water. Some parts are cleaner than others.

Well put it this way, today there are thousands of people sitting and lying on the beaches of the Mar Menor and paddling or swimming in the water. The place is buzzing, the restaurants are all full and everyone is having a great time! It's been like that for the past year or so.

A couple of years ago my first thoughts were to buy a house in the Mar Menor. We searched and searched and decided against it . And we are not sorry . We bought in Aguilas. No problem here , clean water , great weather.

Everybody knows that the Mar Menor is to be avoided . They poisoned it , and the worse is that they keep doing it . If you can avoid it .

It's lovely up around San Pedro del Pinatar at the Northern end of the Mar Menor. Can't comment on other areas as I haven't been.

I know measures have been put in place to deal with what's wrong but it will take a few years I understand to deal with the full extent of it. It's much better though than what it was.

Currently staying at our place in Roda Golf.

The beaches in Los Alcazares and Los Narejos are busy, lots of people in the sea.

The water is clear and there are thousands of small fish swimming about.

Unfortunately there are people commenting that are speculating, and do not know the facts.

The water is fine generally. There is pollution, but I think it is further towards Cartagena.

However in January to April I think you'll find the sea water pretty cold!
