Yes indeed!. It's easy to do and all they ask for is the last address in the UK where you voted, previous names if now married/divorced, etc. National Insurance number and passport number. You may no longer live in the UK but we've been without any votes at all for far too long and we now have the chance to voice our opinion of the current government which took away our rights as European citizens in 2016!

Hi, please tell me what “European Citizens rights” you had prior to 2016. Are you still smarting over the Brexit vote. I’m of the belief if you reside in another country of YOUR choice, why should you have a vote in the country you left. English citizens don’t have a vote in other countries elections.

BTW, there are no English citizens, only British citizens. And EU citizenship gave us freedom of movement, our young had Erasmus, our scientists had Horizon, our pharmaceutical industry had the European Medicine Agency and we could vote in the EU elections.
if German or Spaniards, or French citizens live abroad, they can still vote in their home countries. Residency is not the same as citizenship. Inform yourself, please.

The most important “European Citizens right” that we had before Brexit was our freedom of movement and we were not restricted to living in a small paranoid country with delusions of grandeur. As mentioned by "Csibike" above, there were many other things that Britons no longer have the right to do now either. No, BRITISH citizens don't have a vote in other countries' elections, so to live in a democracy, our vote should be in the country of our citizenship until a mutual agreement has been made to allow us to vote in the country of our actual permanent residence, if that's what we would prefer to do!

Everybody bangs on about “freedom of movement”. We all still have that freedom, there has always been the 90 rule but some countries were relaxed about it. Do you live in Spain permanently? if so then you are “free”, as a European citizen to travel anywhere you like even GB will let you stay for up to six months. So what’s your problem? As for all the other things you mentioned, I often wonder how on earth GB managed prior to being railroaded into the European club. The vote was to take back sovereignty of GB, unfortunately we are surrounded by weak-willed politicians and back stabber’s who are ignoring the will of the people.

Mags44, that’s my point, you should only have a vote in the country you have citizenship in. If you are full-time resident in Spain, and registered as such, enjoying what the country has to offer, why would you want to vote in GB elections? You still have your freedom of movement. As for living in a “small paranoid country”, what a load of hogwash. Have you seen what’s happening since your beloved “European” counterparts, headed by Merkel, Blair and there ilk opened borders creating a free for all. So forgive me if I don’t share your enthusiasm for the mindset of a whole united European Union.

There is a reciprocal agreement in place whereby a British citizen who is resident in Spain, can vote in Municipal elections in Spain, but not the National / General Election (or European elections). Similarly, a Spanish citizen who is resident in the UK, can vote in Local elections in the UK, but not the National / General Election.
Each retains the right to vote in the country of their citizenship.
However, if a Brit took up Spanish nationality (following 10 years residence, or through marriage) they could vote in the Spanish National election and, similarly, if a Spaniard took up British Citizenship, they could vote in the UK General Election.
That is the legal position - how people feel about it can be a different matter.
Personally, I understand the point that if I choose to live in Spain, then why should I vote in the UK? In my case, I own a house in the UK, have UK pensions, a UK passport & citizenship- and I am also impacted by certain UK laws, policies, etc. (e.g. my right to vote, pensions, travel requirements, etc.), so I feel that I should have the right to take part in the democratic process that influences these laws, etc. I am also impacted by laws, policies, etc. of Spain (the country where I live), but I don't have the right to take part in all the Spanish elections.

Have you actually read the previous comments??? Do you understand the difference between citizenship and residence? I am a British citizen and hold British passport, so my vote should be in the UK, as you have reiterated above several times. I have residence in Spain but I am not a Spanish citizen, because if I was, I would automatically have my voting rights in Spain. I do not have freedom of movement as I cannot just move to another EU state as I could previously as I am now the holder of a third-country passport and not an EU passport which would allow me to have freedom of movement. The comments above posted by Rich T explains fully why British Citizens should have the right to vote in UK elections as these laws affect those of us living temporarily or permanently in another country as much as they affect those living in the UK.
