Yes you are very correct on the new law on healthcare, unfortunately some people read things and misunderstand the subjects and give false information.

With prescription charges you have to pay full price for the medication until retirement age then it is a reduced price.

The government were doing a scheme that you can pay into you can check if this is still available on there site.

The charges were slightly less than going self employed, however the rules regarding self employment are being looked at by the new government.

Hope this is a little help

Kind regards

Ed

Thank you.

What if you have a chronic condition, i read that you can get a reduction in prescription costs if you have a chronic condition that requires repeat medication. Would you know if this is the case?

Hi

I am sorry I don't know about chronic conditions, if you are in Spain ask at the local farmicia and I am sure they will give you the correct advise.

If not I would personally try the British government web site about living abroad.

Sorry I cannot be more help

this is a bad move , if renting for a year in spain,  you would have to become a resident, then if you sell property your liable for spanish capital gains tax, which could wipe a quarter of value, sell up before you come over or transfer house in your kins name , if any.
