€60 for a contract is way over the top. I got one for €17 only about a year ago. Empty bottles are sold for c€10, not much chance of problems as they are outside.
As for the bottles themselves; an exchange is around €15, though some garages charge more, so shop around. I get ours from the Repsol gas bottle place, not the garage, in Los Alcazares....

The ones with plastic tops are lighter as they have less gas in them. They are designed for older people. And, here’s the rub, they cost more! So, if your able, get the all metal ones as they have more gas and are cheaper.
We didn't pay anything for the contract. We paid a refundable deposit for the bombona when we signed the contract and can get that back if we longer need the gas bottle for our BBQ.
