No. You now need to have the PCR test. I am due to fly to Spain on Friday for a week and have purchased my 2 day lateral flow test kits for use on my return. Unfortunately now I may as well throw them in the bin, as I now have to order 2 PCR tests

Sorry, yes, my apologies I did mean to say PCR not lateral flow. Tbh, I would be almost certain you could use the code you got for the lateral flow tests you bought on the Passenger Locator Form and it would go through..... 😕🤔

I agree Stevie.   I was supposed to fly last week. and ordered a "antigen " test and got the code / locator form etc

NOW like you said its order a "PCR" test.  and I presume ??????   you also then get a code from that for your locator form ???

Where are you reading that it has to be pcr test not antigen? All I can see that has changed is you just have to self isolate until you receive the negative antigen result. I cant find info that it has changed to pcr test

UK government announced this via PM Press Conference last Night but have not confirmed the effective from date as yet so this is likely why oficial websites etc are not updated.  When will it ever end!

Hi, yes, I would suspect so on the basis that they are unable / not competente enough to be able to change the system so quickly. I'm going to wait until I'm about to leave Spain (in a week or so) to see how the land lies but fully expect to have to do exactly what used to happen the old way.

...

...

Im flying this Wednesday.  so if I find out its an "antigen" test I will let you know.  But I believe its NOW an PCR test for all travellers entering the UK and it will be reviewed in 3 weeks time.   They should in a perfect world update the Gov websites tomorrow ????????

The reason that they have changed it to the PCR test is that it will pick up the new or any new variants whereas the Lateral flow doesn't.

They should have updated the government websites at the same time as the update on TV, but hey ho that's the civil service for you

Exactly.  and they make more money from it !!!

Below is the "latest" information I could find ?   (This is based on that you're fully vaccinated)

"People travelling into the UK will have to take a PCR test by the end of the second day after their arrival and self-isolate until they get a negative test.

And everyone who comes into contact with a positive case of Omicron will have to self-isolate - even if they've had both vaccine doses.

All travellers coming to the UK must also fill in a passenger locator form - even if they are just passing through - which they need to fill in 48 hours or less before their journey."
