Non at all AND you get very nearly the commercial rate of exchange.

The dynamic conversion you refer to is just the basic choice of £ Stirling or local currency which obviously Has been in operation for years and any experience traveler would be aware of this but you must be a special customer to pay no fees as normally all banks within the uk for instance make a charge all be it small, for using a atm in a foreign country, and Santander state they do charge for this service

I am certainly not a a special customer of Santander.

If you use a Santander visa debit card or a Santander MasterCard debit card there is no charge for withdrawing cash from a Santander ATM in Spain.

If i want to top up my Sabadell bank account I draw cash out on my Halifax Clarity Credit Card, no charges except 2e from the ATM Bank, with Halifax I get the official bank exchange rate currently 1.16.

I then walk over the road and pay the money into Sabadells ATM and again no charge.

I recently paid in over 1000 euros at a rate of 1.16 and all I had to pay was the 2e charge for withdrawing the cash.

I then use online banking to clear the credit card balance so no interest is charged either.

Have you tried Currency Fair? I have used them for years, originally recommended by Martin Lewis. They give brilliantly rates and only charge 3€ per transaction. Very easy to use too. Can highly recommend them.

I have found online that if you have a Santander non resident account you can transfer without being charged by Santander for receiving funds. Just the currency firms fees which are very low. So problem solved. Thanks everyone for your advice.
