Quite aware of the non residence tax, just trying to find out about the certifacate.

I went into Cajamar last week as I have the same situation.  They claim that you can do it online through the bank but when I tried to do it, the system kept throwing me out. After speaking to the Sucina branch it seems they need to see proof of your UK National Insurance number. You need an official document proving your NI number, I am using my Pension Annual Notification as proof. So, it seems you take your NI proof into the bank and they will ensure that you can then complete the process online.....Maybe LOL

I’ve always done this via my solicitors office who charge a huge amount each time. Can it be done myself with the relevant form from the bank. If so how do I do this. ?

I guess your bank will be able to help.  Pop into them with your id and NI number (on an official document) and they should be able to help.

Not sure if you are with Cajamar, if so, if you take your proof of NI number to the bank they should do the process for you.

I took mine in yesterday and they did it whilst I waited.

There is no certificate issued & never has been as far as I know.

With Bankia Bank you can do it online. You just have to upload your NIE certificate, a proof of NI number in the UK & sign an online form.

Thanks Bob for this and everyone else. I’ll go into the  bank when over next week and see what they say. I remember last year the solicitor sent me round to the bank to get the certificate which they then sent off. So I was doing half the work anyway!! Val
