Hi there,

We’re hoping to buy a holiday home on the outskirts of the village of Sucina in the coming months. Just waiting for the right property to come on the market!

We visited last week and had a great time in the village and exploring the area.

I just wondered if anyone had any particular pros or cons we should know about? We would mostly be coming out around school holidays with our 6 year old. We noticed a number of playgrounds and wondered if there are quite a few younger children in the summer months?

Any thoughts and advice welcome!

Many thanks,

Laura

We have had our place in Sucina since 2008. Pros - Lovely friendly people, mixture of mostly Spanish, then Brits, and a few other nationalities.

Cons - Public transport is virtually non -existent.

Can't advise on Children as ours are grown up and left home

Hope this helps

Wonderful, thanks for your input Stevie! It felt like a really nice community and balance between Spanish life and holiday/british community.

I’ve seen a few posts about flies and smells in the area! Do you mind me asking your view/experience on this?

Many thanks,
Laura

Re flies. We have never had any issues other than what would be expected in a hot country.

Smells - Sometimes (rarely) farmers spread manure on their fields (as they do in the UK), smell lasts a day or 2 then disappears.

Thanks Stevie, that’s great to hear!

Hi Laura,

There a lot of local children in Sucina. Many of them meet at the playground by the community centre every day around 6.00pm. You know children don't necessarily need to speak the same language to play together. Spanish children are very friendly. There are also children from the UK and Ireland during school holidays. I don't think your child would have a problem meeting other children. Good luck with the house hunting!

Best wishes

Sue

Hi Sue,

Thanks very much for your message, that’s really great to know! We did see a lot of playgrounds dotted around the town.

Thank you, hopefully the right property will be along soon 🤞🏻
