Ryanair have now cancelled most flights to Spain up to & including Thursday - see copy & paste fom Ryanair website below:

In response to the decision of the Spanish Government to “lock down” the entire country to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus, Ryanair Group Airlines (including Buzz and Lauda) has been forced to severely reduce flights to/from Spain, the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands from 24:00 Sun 15 Mar until 24:00 Thurs 19 Mar. We are contacting all affected customers by email to advise them of their options and we urge customers not to call us.

For cancelled flights, you have the option to take a refund or change to another flight for no charge (unless the other flight is more expensive, in which case you need to pay the difference). Or, if your flight isn't currently cancelled, you can change as above.

To all those people who like to bash Ryanair at every opportunity I will say this.

We flew home to the UK with them last night. We are extremely grateful to them that we were able to do that. Only 31 people flew in, we assumed that they probably live in Spain and so had no choice. Our flight was about half full with all couples/singles distanced from each other. Ryanair must be losing money hand over fist by doing this. So they are not being irresponsible, they are acting in a very humane way.

THANK YOU RYANAIR!

Keep up the good work getting us home, wherever that may be.

At last somebody not bashing Ryanair.

Good on ya!

It beats all the Victor Mildrew types who are always knocking this successful airline.

Glad you got home. We are hoping they don’t cancel our flight home  on March 30th.

You obviously don’t need to get home. Selfish or what!

We are due to fly to on 27th of April and are very concerned that this lock down of airlines still continue. It is true that more people are catching but you can catch being anywhere. If you are ill you should not travel but if you are ok than it should not be a travel bam

Sue46 I politely suggest you read the latest posts in the thread below - and even better the Medium.com article, then you may understand the rationale behind the lockdown...

Do you not think that there may be some Spanish residents who wish to return to Spain or some British people who wish to return to the UK.I have a flight with Ryanair booked for saturday to return to the UK and am praying that it is still on.

Look at Ryanair website. They have unchecked people off some flights and you have to rebook. It may apply to you.

I'm sure there are. I'm working from home in the rain and would much prefer to be beside my pool in the sun / warmth of Murcia. I have a flight booked to Alicante for Sunday, which incidentally hasn't yet been cancelled by Ryanair, but I won't be travelling because...

Yesterday, the government issued an Exceptional Travel Advisory Notice,The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) now advises British people against all non-essential travel worldwide. This advice takes effect immediately and applies initially for a period of 30 days.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus

Many countries worldwide - EU, USA & Canada, Middle East, Asia, Australia, South America - are in lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus both from & to their countries.

The initial poster on this thread was complaining that Ryanair were being irresponsible in continuing flights, however others have commented that they are helping Spaniards & Brits get home - and I'm sure they will do unless instructed not to.

My point is that the Sue46 quote of "If you are ill you should not travel but if you are ok than it should not be a travel bam (assumed 'ban')" is ill-informed; particularly as many people will be carrying the virus without showing or feeling any symptoms...

This was done to allow people who had checked in to rebook. As the system did not allow it when checked in . Hopefully ok for saturday.
