Most airlines have stopped flying into Corvera for the winter, but probably permanently I fear.

You could try Birmingham - otherwise it will be Alicante.

We used money direct for the big money transfer for the house but since then have been using transfer wise

Great rates and prompt delivery to recipients bank accounts. Use them all the time now

Hi

I am sure you aware Corvera is Murcia International, just had a look plenty for Manchester to Murcia International in November, bargain prices.

10% holding deposit seems high, as if the survey comes back with problems and you pull out, you usually loose the deposit, others will have advice as to wether you can have deposit subject to survey, ask your solicitor, but trying to get any money back in Spain can be difficult. We paid 4K deposit on similar price house.

Used TransferWise for exchange straight into our Spanish bank no problems. Don’t forget the 8% tax on purchase ouch!

Good luck and enjoy that beer in the sun

Have used Transferwise since 2016, with over 400 transfers, it is definitely the Gold Standard

Please be very careful about any company holding any money for you.

We used Magna Finance to purchase our home in Spain. We bought the whole amount plus some extra from them at a favourable rate. The money transfer for the house and car went through with no problem. There was still 11k in our account. Last September we received a notice to say that the company our money was held with had gone into administration. It took until June to get our money back and we are still short of 1k. We had to wait for the administrator to collate all the claims from investors and we were then given 89% of the money back. They are now trying to get the remaining money back via the courts.

Magna Finance use third parties to buy the currencies as do most of these companies. Magna themselves told us they had no influence over the matter once the company had gone into administration.

As I said we had no problems with Magna but you don't know where or who they are using to buy their currencies.

Just please be careful.

hi no sorry for any confusion paid £3000 for holding deposit that then gives me around a month to pay the 10% deposit which will include the holding deposit i have now agreed a rate and tied that in sadly the euro dropped a point but got a rate of of 1.08 when the euro is at 1.09 so happy with that (i think ) its all relative isnt it, what would it be without brexit AARGH any hoo it is what it is at least i know what i will end up in the bank sad isnt it

i will use transferwise for smaller amounts i think for my living expenses ibi water electric etc i cant wait to get over there its been raining here constantly slight reprieve today but more tomorrow and into next week and today they were announcing  in tescos that and i quote if your not wearing a mask in the store you will be subject to a £200 on the spot fine WTF

anyway

thanks for the replies all very helpful and much appreciated

kindest regards

ray

Think more shops should fine anyone not wearing a mak or employ bouncers like a pub and simply refuse them entry

Ray,

Get ready to follow the Spanish guidelines where you would not even think of not wearing a mask on the street, let alone in any store.
