I am with Cajamar they are the English equivalent to the Co-op owned by you, I think again 15€ a quarter unless you have a set amount of funds in there. Don’t forget here they charge you for using a different bank to withdraw money.

Lin, I have Cajamar "weferrent" account which is an online account and FREE even for non residents. Their only fee is 5€month if you do a 1 to 1 transaction in branch. Use it online and no charge. They do have a investment account called "360" which needs a minimum 1000€ balance but it pays interest. I believe that has a 15€ month fee, but if its a basic account online, with debit card, direct debits and atm use, no fee. I also like they send a msg to your inbox every time there is a transaction.

Yes, we got charged the same as you at first. Went in and changed to an Expansion Account. You do have to pay in €700 a calendar month though, but you won’t be charged at all.
Paul164, Sabadell are just using the criteria for residents with the expansion account. Why commit 700€ month when you dont live there most of the year? As pensioners thats a large amount of money we were not happy at committing to and to get it back via Transferwise has a cost too. I,m happier with Cajamar who havent charged us a cent in 6months, paid all my direct debits, and allow me to send money when the rate suits me at its best, Sabadell exploits their perfect use of english making us Brits feel more comfortable at dealing with them, but a year of my expenditure when in Spain and maintenance for property and a car, nowhere near comes to over 8000€ yr. We all do what is best for ourselves, and I,d recommend Cajamar to anyone.

Pauline.

I never said ours was a holiday home. We live here permanently. It suits us to transfer at least €700 for living expenses etc. We are very happy with Sabadell and would recommend them.It always depends on your own individual circumstances!

I think you missed the topic the original poster was talking about which was charges for non residents, obviously banking is free for residents with all the Spanish banks. Its the non resident accounts that are being charged. He wanted info on free or low cost banking for non residents.

Hi
I have a Sabadell bank account , charges are 32 euros a quarter , is a bit steep but they are established
and the service is good , they are English speaking also , the online app is also in English . As in the UK
you can shop around but peace of mind counts for a lot
regards
Mark and Lynda
I was told the same, if I transferred 1000 euros a month it would be free so I have now opened an account with Bankinter and it is FREE we only paid 24 euros for the debit card
