Hi Robin - contact them for insurance. I do not put in the required amount, they have reduced the commission on the account which is better than nothing. If I went elsewhere for insurance - would be paying 15 euro's a quarter plus their commission fee, made sense to take out an insurance policy, until we can move out on a permanent basis.

I think you missed the topic the original poster was talking about which was charges for non residents, obviously banking is free for residents with all the Spanish banks. Its the non resident accounts that are being charged. He wanted info on free or low cost banking for non residents.

Regards

Pauline.

Blatantly not correct information "obviously banking is free for residents with all the Spanish banks."

Close the account and open a Cajamar Wefferent account.

No charges at all if operating online & you get a debit card.

Probably going to be difficult to open the account during the current crisis

as you nearly always need to go into a physical branch to do it.

Sabadell charge 35€ quarter whether your a resident or not. The only way to get free banking with them is to pay 700€ or more a month into your account and take out one of their products such as home contents insurance. I have two accounts with them and pay bank charges on both

Paying 700 euros in per month does not get you free banking any more you need to buy one of their insurances

And according to several posts on this forum they are notorious for not paying out.

Hi, With regards to Sabadell,( with whom I have banked with for 13 years) I was charged this month a quarterly 15 € fee for my Expansion account ,( Which has always been free)

They say they sent out an e mail last year ( Which I never saw ) to say as of March if you do not take any insurance, pensions etc with them you will no longer be able to have free banking, sow how is that for a legal rip off.

This information was given to me yesterday from the information desk
