I opened an account, (or joined their club) a few weeks ago. When I then read their terms, and the extra charges on basic rental I dropped them.
Had no problems with Dickers by the way.

Luckily I have learnt to take photo's of the car, especially if they don't inspect it whilst you are there and sign it off. On my recent visit I rented from Goldcar although my usual recently had been Firefly and before that Record Go. On looking over past records, Record Go are the only rental company that actually gave me a refund for the fuel I hadn't used (as I was on my own, only drove from Alicante to Camposol and back). What I can't understand about this full to full rule, is if you are charged for a full tank of fuel at the airport, then that is yours to use which you do on your holiday. Then you have to fill it up before returning which means that you are in fact, giving the rental company a full tank of fuel. How does that work?

If you hire full/full you seem to pay more for your hire car, they charge your credit card for fuel incase you bring it back empty.
If you return full you should get the original charge for fuel refunded, but if you even only need a few ltrs you will also be charged the service charge for them to go to the garage.
There's only a few hire companies that do full/full

Just got back to find we have been charged €350 for a parcel shelf that was never there and a further €60 because we didn't return the car full. I expected maybe a bit off a charge for the fuel as I filled up in Camposol before we set off for the airport. From the car nearly being empty to fu...

I too was the victim of an attempted rip off tactic by Gold Car last week that I wanted to warn everyone of. I booked through the Argus Car Hire website and had to pay an amount up front to them and then the confirmation stated I would need to pay 2.03 Euros to Goldcar on arrival.(Not a problem). However the staff member at the Gold Car desk tried to claim the decimal point was in the wrong place on my confirmation and that I actually needed to pay 23 Euros! He was refusing to give me the car unless I paid 23 Euros claiming it was a mistake by Argus Car Hire. But after arguing with him for 10 minutes he eventually backed down and gave me the car for the agreed 2.03 Euros additional payment. However it is obviously another tactic they use to try to rip their customers off!
Been using Golcar for 10 years or more. Never a problem. Insurance covers everything. Pay for full tank upfront and they will refund you for any fuel left in tank. Also new or good quality cars. Learned the hard way from other companies with inferior/older cars.
Full/full means full/full!
You have been one of the lucky few...............
Thanks, but can't see how they would treat some customers differently...
