Hi how long will it take on the ferry or road. Neither of us drive so we would have to pay someone to take us by ferry or road.

Thanks

Dawn

Really depends where you’re going from. France or Spain.

If you’re getting the ferry to Santander or Bilbao it normally takes me 8hrs with 2 or 3 stops. If you’re going thru France then it takes me about 9hrs from dieppe to the Spanish border with stops

Only the majority of those who voted leavers  ,apprx one third voted stay another  approx third voted out  the rest of the country could not be bothered to get up of their buts and vote in the most important moment in our history .so you saying 80% of the country voted out is TOSH

Under a democracy the people are allowed to vote and only those who actually do can be counted. thoise that choose not have their own reasons but cannot complain if they could not be bothered

Based on that, the majority voted to leave and their will should be upheld otherwise what is the point of having a vote in the first place...?

Hello, I hope I can help answer your questions, my wife and I have just bought on camposol within the last few weeks and are a similar age to you.

Use a local English speaking lawyer who can arrange your nie numbers, we used pals, down in Mazarron.

Feel free to ask more questions and I’ll be happy to help

Hi

I noticed health care costs are high till you become a resident. My husband will be back and forth to UK working till his retirement age, does this affect his residency

Your Spanish lawyer can organize your NIE number and open a bank account for you if you give them power of attorney to do  this on your behalf ..I think this is the most trouble free way to it ..I had a very good bilingual Spanish lawyer who made the purchase and all the associated bits very trouble free

We moved here on Jan 1st and are residents already. We are not pensioners so Healthcare from Sanitas is costing us 189 euros for both of us. You can get it a bit cheaper but you need it for residency. Our solicitors in Spain organised bank account and NIE while we were biying from the UK. You need to give them POA for this. Everyone seems to have an opinion on Brexit but no-one knows least of all UK government. You're right. It might not happen but there'll be riots if it doesn't. No deal seems a little more distant than it was though. Unless your Spanish is good and you like paperwork i'd get a gestor to do your Padron and Residency applications. We found a very good one for a good price , i think.

As i understand it we can buy into the Spanish health system for around 130 after 12 month

Hope this helps

We bought our house through Mercers and yes and they were very good.  We used Costs Calida property services to process the sale.  We paid them to get the NIE numbers and paid for them to have power of etourney for us which meant they could act on our behalf and save on flight costs etc having to come over to sign paperwork.   They did all the work setting up utility accounts for us checking and making sure we were not left with previous owners debts. They are based on Camposol A in the row of bars etc.

Hi Dawn,

My husband and I are in our 40s and have just bought a property in Alamillo. We had exactly the same questions as you, which so many helpful people on this forum answered for us.

Our estate agent went with us to set up a Spanish bank account, then took us to Mazarrón town hall to introduce us to an English speaking solicitor (he set up our NIE) and guided us through a potentially stressful ordeal- it wasn’t stressful at all in the end!

The advice given to let the estate agent guide us, was given through this forum and was absolutely accurate. Dare I tempt fate in saying, I’ve never bought a house with such little complication - we’re collecting the keys in less than a month (tied down by my work holiday term times). Ask all the questions you need, someone will be able to help!
