Well said, the Mar Menor is certainly not the place to buy.
Hi I wonder how many times you have visited the Mar Menor?
Where there were the main problems of fish dying etc was and has been for many years in the areas around Los Urriutias. Los Nietos, Mar De Crystal, Playa Honda all of these places have fields bordering on them that have been farmed for many years and the run off from fertilizers has been causing server contamination.
I was swimming in the lagoon constantly in the summer and have no bad affects also remember that in San Pedro Del Piniatar people go there and submerse themselves in the mud for its healing properties.
Yes there has been flooding issues in some of the towns and villages but that is prevalent throughout Spain not having the drainage systems of country's that suffer from constant downpours.
Bill Is incorrect on many points about Camposol
Properties are very attractively priced, because they are of poor quality build, compared to most of post 2000 Spanish properties.
What are these 2000 Spanish properties you are referring to? Please clarify. By the way, although not really relevant, it was an Englishman, Dennis Lehey who introduced the prefabricated style build to the Promotoras Masa.
a) Foundations are questionabl?. The reason the properties are built on pillar like construction is Camposol is on an earthquake fault and this type of construction alleviates server damage during tremors.
b) Ground water levels can be very high? This can be said of any land but where is the proof to show Camposol is any higher than any other area.
c) Ventilation and damp proof courses are non-existent? Damp proofing is basically non existent in any property in Spain or Mediterranean countries, in fact when I was working in Hungary the properties there had no damp proofing and that is not a dry country. Ventilation is normally obtained by opening a window, I did not see any properties on Camposol without any windows.
d) Wall and roof insulation is non-existent. All of the prefabricated wall have a layer of bubble polystyrene in them, I had seen them being manufactured.
e) The flow of ground water in the case of heavy rainfall is unpredictable? This is a case throughout the world as is the flow of laver from a volcano.
Camposol and the Mar Menor (although the Mar Menor is not a particular urbanisation) have many pluses and minuses a small example Camposol has many shops supermarkets bars restaurants medical centres all within easy reach,
Los Urrurtias where the original posters location is shown is dead in the winter months and when I visited in the summer was also not very busy. yes it has a medical centre. a hotel (if it is open) but no large supermarkets or the facilities that Camposol or many other towns and villages on the Mar Menor. I often drive through all of the costal towns when going to Cartagena, which I do at least once a week and unfortunately the end near La Manger is always not very busy
Where I live now in Santiago La RIbera I have all of the facilities of Camposol and many more including the beach all within 5 minuets walk, I am not in anyway promoting any of these areas, it is an individuals choice and no one should decry or really praise an area unless they have lived there or at least spent a considerable time exploring and enjoying all of the facilities on offer.
