After looking at negative press and the general running down of campasol properties i thought that myself and partner would take a trip to spain to actually see this shear depressing site.

Well to my amazement I had to take a very hard search for this.

Yes there is some run down properties and some dodgy streets.

But there are also some fantastic homes AND COMMUNITY IS SECOND TO NONE.

IN fact I was so impressed with the place I sourced and purchased a 2 bed villa while I was there.

We continue to read the pros and contras for Camposol. We are a couple which was very attracted to Camposol. We visited many times over two years using three principal Estate Agents: all were very helpful and honest regarding the development. We decided to buy elsewhere and are very happy. We will tell you  why,

1) Apart from Sector A, all properties are illegal. (This doesn´t mean a bulldozer is parked outside!!)

2) The infrastructure is poor; roads are only maintained by volunteer groups (who do a great job).

3) Street lighting is sporadic to non-existent.

4) Properties are very attractively priced, because they are of poor quality build, compared to most of post 2000 Spanish properties:

a) Foundations are questionable

b) Ground water levels can be very high

c) Ventilation and damp proof courses are non-existent

d) Wall and roof insulation is non-existent.

e) The flow of ground water in the case of heavy rainfall is unpredictable.

5) There are plusses!

a) The community spirit is excellent

b) English is the accepted language for businesses (and cowboys!)

c) There are groups actively fighting for improvement,

The choice is yours, We decided against Camposol and purchased a 4 bedroom, modern house with 500 square metre plot on the shore of the Mar Menor at the same price of a Neptuno....there is more to Spain than Camposol!

Please PM us if you have questions.

Its personal choice,

Sorry to tell you, but the last and present report on the Mar Menor was devastating.

Chemicals in the water, fish dying, serious flooding, our friends got out quick, now unpredictable water levels, and obviously problems will arise with foundations.

Check it out.

Camposol has just had 3 million Euros released to start projects to upgrade, in addition 880 thousand Euros been given for roads to be re surfaced.

Water pressure which caused problems has been reduced with new pressure reducing valves been put into pumping stations.

Our fantastic CRA has worked hard to get the funds, and more on the way.

Camposol was left for many years with nothing done, watch the next few years.

Good luck.

Sorry but have to disagree with points 1 and 4. Not all properties are illegal on the other sectors and I agree some have been built on dodgy ground they are still the exception to the vast majority of properties on Camposol

As for the Mar Menor whilst it used to be very scenic over the last few years the area has suffered badly with talk of it never returning to its natural state.

As you say, everyone makes their own choices and good luck to them but I do not see any need for peddling bad, and inaccurate, rumours simply to substantiate your own choice

Well said, the Mar Menor was devistated, our friends who lived there confirmed this, and sold up at a loss and moved to Camposol, where they wish they had in the first place.

The Mar Menor is expected to take up to 10 years to recover, but will according to experts be vunerable for long after that.

Well said, the Mar Menor is certainly not the place to buy.

Sorry but your facts stated are wrong, look close at the Mar Menor, it is in serious trouble.

We do not live on A, but have all the legall paper work, so not sure where you get your info.

Old rumours are not any longer correct.

I'm surprised: what exactly are the problems with Mar menor? I really want to know.

Surely you have read the reports about the flooding which put chemicals into the lagoons etc, and killed the fish.

There was large reports about it all, and the council had to call in experts to investigate, and they concluded serious damage has been done which could take years to sort out.

It was all over the Spanish news some time ago.

Our friends were there, and said it was drastic.

Look it up, and have a read about it, it was very concerning.
