Frequent Flyer.
Not saying you are right or wrong.
You have the experience.
I too am looking at moving to Spain and all info is helpful, however, you doubting what others are living on isn't helpful.
Instead of implying their lifestyle is impossible it would be more helpful if you gave us an idea of your spending.
Bhamoggy itemised their spending.
Could you do the same?
Some folk are content to walk, bike ride, chat with a glass of wine. Simple and cheap.
Others need to play golf, eat out etc. A more expensive lifestyle.
Are you one of those?
If so, let us know what your type of lifestyle costs so we can get a balanced view.
My reason for moving would be mainly to escape the very damp winters in the UK.
I don't mind dry cold weather but weather like we are having now is just plain miserable.

I find it hard to believe that you are that you are living on €100 per week... surly you are talking about spending money to go out and enjoy yourself.

You can believe what you like FF.

And that 100 euro per week is for two people and includes absolutely everything.

We rarely eat out as we enjoy cooking and experimenting with the local produce.

Lewie believe me 2 people can't live in Spain on £86 =€100 per week..my electric bill comes to €45 per week on it's own...you could not feed 2 church mice for a week on €55 ..let alone pay the rest of your bills... it's not me you should be asking for a break down on living expenses ..it's should be Roland.

We are also looking at buying in January next year. For a few years, until we retire, it will be our holiday home and we plan to visit every couple of months. Is there a standing charge for electric and water if the property is not occupied and if so how much is it please?

It will cost you €400 per year standing charge for the electric and water...as a holiday home owner you will also pay a none residents tax my (IBI council tax)is €480 per year ...and before you ask 2 people cannot live on €100 =£86  per week including bills and food.

Hi HelenR

We have had a holiday home for nearly a year now in Camposol. We visit roughly about every 6 weeks. On average I would say electric is 100 euros a month and water is 50 euros a month. We have a pool and air con.

Cheers

Hmmmmm.
But I asked you.
All I've read so far from you is that you are pretty much calling people liars.
I have no idea whether or not two people can live on 100 Euros per week so I must take their word.
Unless you know them and can prove otherwise then you should also accept their claim.
You ask gloria007 to detail what she spends.
She does so then you ask why move to Spain to live in poverty?
She seems very happy to me and you sound very bitter.
I ask you to tell us what you spend and you tell me I should be asking Roland!!
Strange indeed.

Lewie if you are going to listen to Bullshit.. all I can say is..be prepared for a steep learning curve when you arrive in Spain... have a nice day.
