Hi all, I'm just in the Visa application process and doing it myself.  I simply used the email address on the Manchester Consulate website and they replied promptly with the date and time I had asked for.  They attach a list of everything you will need to take with you together with use...

...ful links.  They confirmed that an S1 is acceptable in place of Insurance and my experience of asking for an S1 was similarly prompt.  I am doing all this from Spain and flying back for the two appointments having almost completed my 90 day allowance.  I hope this is helpful!

Hi thanks

This confirms what I had heard

Thanks again

Hi,

Did it by myself…..plus a lot of reading and guidance from posts on here.
Actually, though I was initially freaked out by it, it was a relatively straightforward process.

The fact that certain things had to be Apostilled and then Officially translated caused me concerns that it would be done within the three month timeline but the thing that I thought would be the most straightforward - the Doctor’s Certificate - was the biggest challenge!

I must say that Manchester Consulate we’re very helpful.

Emailed our GP in Lincolnshire today to touch base on the medical certificate for the NLV application, more so to test the waters with them for possible delays for when we need to get one. I was called this afternoon to be told i would have to go to someone who is registered with the commonwealth as they are not..... so ive searched the web and had no joy , can anyone say where we could get this certificate from , any links or details greatly appreciated .

many thanks

JBT,

When requesting an appointment at the Consulate an advice sheet is sent with confirmation so I guess they would forward to you this form:http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/MANCHESTER/es/Documents/ENG%20NON%20LUCRATIVE%20VISA.pdf click on the link "medical certificate" which leads to more advice.  In Spain you simply go to a private clinic and they stamp and sign the certificate for a fee.

Thank you for this. I think we will need to find somewhere to stamp it here.

In case it's helpful, here are my notes which include the process of getting certification (you can ask for this to be posted to UK/Spain - sorry but I don't seem to be able to attach the actual page and all the points are numbered 1.!

MY EXPERIENCE OF BEING IN SPAIN AND APPLYING FOR NLV 2022

  1. DOWNLOAD http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/MANCHESTER/es/Documents/ENG%20NON%20LUCRATIVE%20VISA.pdf

  1. TELLS YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO TAKE TO THE APPOINTMENT AND HOW TO GO ABOUT IT*

  1. FOR MANCHESTER CONSULATE YOU CAN EMAIL [email protected] ASK FOR AN APPOINTMENT, ADVICE, CLARIFICATION - MOST HELPFUL

  1. MEDICAL INSURANCE - S1 IS ACCEPTABLE IF YOU ARE OF RETIREMENT AGE:https://www.gov.uk/guidance/healthcare-in-spain-including-the-balearic-and-canary-islands

  1. POLICE CHECK - apply onlinehttps://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx

  1. MEDICAL CHECK CAN BE DONE IN SPAIN EITHER USING A “MEDICAL CHECK FORM” AVAILABLE FROM THE PHARMACIES FOR 3euros OR DOCUMENT BELOW (I USED BOTH) IF DONE IN SPAIN IT DOESN’T NEED TO BE TRANSLATED OR APOSTILLED. THE FEE FOR THE MEDICAL VARIES, I PAID 50.00.

  1. TRANSLATIONS: CAN BE DONE REMOTELY.  IN SPAIN I USED [email protected].  THE ABOVE* CONTAINS HELPFUL LINKS FOR UK translators.

  1. POLICE CHECK APOSTLE https://www.hagueapostille.co.uk ALL DONE ONLINE.

IMPORTANT NOTES

BEAR IN MIND THERE ARE 3 STAGES TO CONSIDER:

FIRSTLY, THE POLICE CHECK AND MEDICAL CHECK

SECONDLY THE APOLSTILLE/S

THIRDLY THE TRANSLATIONS

DEPENDING ON YOUR CIRCUMSTANCE ie WHETHER YOU ARE IN THE UK OR TRAVELLING BACK FROM SPAIN TEMPORARILY, CONSIDER WHERE THE APOSTLED DOCUMENTS NEED TO BE POSTED.

I ASKED ACRO TO POST DIRECT TO THE APOSTLE SERVICE AND FROM THERE POSTED TO MY UK ADDRESS. IT WAS THEN SCANNED AND SENT TO RAPHAELLA FOR TRANSLATION AND CAME BACK TO ME WITHIN TWO DAYS READY TO BE PRINTED AND INCLUDED WITH THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS.

FORMS: THERE ARE THREE AND YOU CAN FIND LINKS ABOVE* GOOGLE TRANSLATE SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT HELP COMPLETING THEM.

FUNDS: HAVE TO BE PROVEN EITHER BY PROOF OF MONTHLY INCOME OR BY SUFFICIENT FUNDS FOR THE FIRST YEAR IN THE FORM OF A LUMP SUM. Following is a copy of text taken from the website below.

To ascertain that you have enough funds to sustain yourself in Spain, IPREM, an indicator used in Spain to determine minimum income for an individual annually, is used. The non lucrative visa Spain applicants must have at least 400% of the IPREM value in their bank account every year. Currently, the 400% IPREM value per month for 2022 is €2.316,08 . This gives an IPREM value of €27.792,96 (minimum) per year.

Having 400% of the amount means that your bank account must have €27.792,96 or more if you include your family members for your visa application to be approved. An additional €6,948.24 is required yearly for each additional family member under the Spanish non lucrative visa. Euro is the official currency used, which means applicants’ bank balances should be in Euro or another international currency convertible to Euros.

HOW TO GET A DIGITAL CERTIFICATE

Thank you so much for taking the time to be so helpful. We seem to of got most of this in our heads but as you say, the order in which documents are translated and appostille is helpful to know, and posted to where they need to be next is a great tip. The timing for us is critical as the selling of our home and obtaining visa then going to Spain all has to fall into the second part of this year to avoid capital gains tax, along with obtaining documentation which can have no more than 3 months validity so we have got a pretty large calendar on the wall now 😉 to which we will monitor and apply, obtain in line for when we need it. Hopefully we will get a decent set of buyers with no set back on selling. Thanks again tie information on this is extremely helpful. Speaking with others that's are going through or have been through it does help takeaway some Anxiety about doing this ourselves 👍👍

JBT,

Morning,

We were supplied a simple form that the GP had to sign and stamp to say we had no serious health issues. We then had to send it to Milton Keynes to get it legalised, along with marriage certificate and also solicitor got it translated.

Hi frank can you pls give me a list of what I need to retire to Spain. I have looked up the consulate in edinburgh but find it all very confusing. Maybe it is my age but my brain has just fogged up after reading it. What do I need and from where thanks moira
