Thank you Pauline.

Unfortunately I am in the UK & trying to sort this problem remotely.

My keyholder is getting somebody out to have a look at the problem for me.

I will update the thread as & when the problem is sorted.

Hi Roland

sorry to hear you are not over there it's stressful when you,re not and someone else is sorting problem out. It,s often something so simple but it's still a worry. I,ve lost my key holder who has finally sold their house after 7yrs on the market but amazing I,ve "met" the new owner on this forum. They posted how they were buying in my town and wanted info and lo and behold then discovered they were buying our neighbours house. Small world, just hope they will hold our keys too.

Are you planning a visit soon, we are going 26th August. Can't wait it's been 9mnths since we were there.

Stay safe.

Regards

Pauline

Pauline.

We have no trip planned yet because we are rather concerned about the rising cases of the virus in both the UK & Spain.

Our biggest worry is testing positive before our flight back to the UK & then getting stuck in Spain.

No bad thing getting stuck in the sunshine, but we have elderly parents with declining health problems that need our input.

We are thinking about booking some flights for the middle of September & hope that things don't get any worse.

But who knows ??

10 months since we were out 😒😒😒

Roland

I,m sorry to hear that and it sounds like you really need a trip away too. Do try to get a little time away in September. We got stuck (ahem if you can call it stuck, sunshine, relaxation etc etc) last year for the same length of time as we,ve been away since then. We,ve booked for 90 days away and if things change this time hate to think we,d overstay as Spain doesn't seem to have any tolerance towards covid caused situations. Sometimes you just have to take a chance as I think the repercussions of this virus will still be with us for many years yet.

Best of luck to you

Regards

Pauline

Nothing can have tripped out the electric in the house as the electric has been turned off for 10 months.

This is my meter

A local lightening strike can destabilise the network, momentarily, and pop the meter. I speak from experience.

Roland are you sorted now? Gosh I hope so and what was the fault, in case it happens to us.

Hiya Pauline,

You have just reminded me to post an update regarding my electric 'problem'.

Lets say keyholder error !!

My keyholder turned all the electric on for the first time in 10 months.

They  expected the fridge freezer to start operating as soon as the electric was turned back on as the doors were open.

Unfortunately the keyholder had not realised we had turned off the fridge freezer at the dial inside the fridge !!

Why they did not try to turn a light on I just don't know.

Anyway panic over & a good cheap fix !!

Often it is the simplest solution that sorts the problem .

Lovely to see the help and support from people on this forum...I occasionally check out a French forum which is interesting but a hellovalotta bitching goes on in it (usually about Brexit, which is mildly ironic as those indulging in it live full time in France and have, as far as I am concerned opted out)...I know you get that here as well but mainly it is people being helpful.

Excellent forum so many thanks to Alex and his team.

Oh Roland so they though electric was off when it wasn't cos they didn't realise you,d turned fridge off. I bet they didn't realise the stress and anxiety you suffered either! We leave ours on as food in both freezer and fridge (pickles, jams and sauces etc)

Glad to hear all is OK now.

Get yourself over, I, m having nightmare of time getting affordable travel insurance. Spent 5 days on Internet and phone. We are over 70 (71&77) with medical conditions and want 90 days cover. No annual cover will allow more than 60 days and prices on single trip are ranging from £547at best to £2600.!!

Most are over £1000+for just 90 days.

I,ve phoned 4 companies who tell me insurance is done in age brackets and upto 70(although hubby over) we were in upto 70 as they go on lead person(me) . Now I,m 71 we, re in 70-80 and its apparently the biggest jump in prices. Still haven't bought cover yet cos paying £547 at best means next visit similar so 2x90 days away costing over £1000+. That's ludicrous and unaffordable. Don't know where to go with it, tried at least 20 companies. I put on FB and got many replies but exhausted all recommendations. Oh dear more stress.

We, re booked for 3 wks time too. Last Yr I paid £165 for annual cover! What a rise.

Stay well.

Regards

Pauline
