Trouble is this sort of thing is not widely publicised & people just keep on getting caught out.

My friend sent me an Amazon fire stick fully loaded with programmes and I had to pay €12 to receive it so in my opinion I won't get anything sent from UK in future

We have notified everyone we know not to send us anything but my friend has bought me a small diary for years and it has become habit. Next year I will ignore notification from Correos and not pick it up, Correos can then return to sender. If I go into their office I will probably be charged return postage, I have heard thishappens regularly

My Bank card went to my Uk address and my daughter sent it to me by registered post at a cost of £6 20 , was then charged Euros 5.20 by Correos for delivery, this amounted at the time to about 11.40 euros in all for a small piece of plastic, when I queried it with the post lady she just shrugged her shoulders,,this is just Licensed thieving by correos.

This is licensed thieving by Correos I agree, if it isn’t them then who is it? Whoor where can you complain? Has anybody tried to complain further up than Correosor the delivery companies? In my original post I write a friend had sent me a small diary, it was in an ordinary envelope with flap secured by a piece of sellotape. Customs form clearly stated diary, I unit cost £2.50 postage £3. Correos didn’t deliver I had to go into the post office to pay and collect.so the 5.50 charged by Correos couldn’t be classed asa delivery charge.

I know.  We had the same problem. We sent over a remote control (no batteries as that only complicated things on Custom's Sheet!) and when that was delivered it was about 18 euros for the recipient to pay!!  Downright robbery.  I don't know whether they're being awkward due to us coming out of Europe but it seems that way.  Damn robbers!!

"We sent over a remote control " Why not simply transfer some money and they can buy a remote in Spain? Britain wanted out of the EU so EU residents should buy within that market.

The information has been "out there" for ages but if people don't ever find out anything about the rules of the country that they are living in or have a property in, then maybe they should keep themselves informed a little better.

There is a fee for 'clearing customs'; this is to assess whether duty is payable or not. This fee is payable whether any duty is applicable or not.  As far as I'm aware this is charged on anything other than a simple letter.

Other carriers (DHL, FedEx, etc) who may be responsible for customs clearance have different fees for this 'service'...

...

So anything other than an envelope + sheet of paper will be charged a custom clearance fee? That is an awful lot of custom’s fees so these payments must be to pay staff overtime, am I right subfiver?

It’s customs that is the problem. Local post office told me there’s no rhyme nor reason to it all. Some parcels are charged and some not.
I’ve sent goods to UK and there’s no problem that was round.

It is really annoying though.

Nothing to do with being informed, I have lived in the EU for 20+ years and never had these charges. These charges have only appeared in the last 12 months, not only in Spain but France also. Do you know all the new rules for living in Spain?
