Hi could you tell me how many properties were affected by the Gota Fria and how often this happens. I am looking to buy on La Torre on the ground floor.

Firstly: I do not live on La Torre

As I remember the Gota Fria in 2019 was very bad and La Torre was awful.

As everywhere towards Los Alcazares.

BUT I heard that some of the citizen where partying somewhere outside and asked the security not to close the floodgates – and it was too late….

In the meantime, the authorities have improved the situation.

How often this type of rain occurs I do not like to think about because of the climate change

Here is a map where you can zoom in:

Areas which could be flooded:

Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (Zonas Inundables)

For a 'Very Helpful Member' you are not very helpful, as you have added very little factually!

Your response and my comments:

Firstly: I do not live on La Torre

Why do you think you can/should comment?

As I remember the Gota Fria in 2019 was very bad and La Torre was awful.

It was in 2019 and La Torre was hit quite badly, however there were specific reasons why La Torre was so badly affected. (football pitches/stadia built on the flood plane had an impact on where/how the water built up and broke through.

As everywhere towards Los Alcazares.

Many areas in the region were impacted for various reasons. Very sad for all areas adversely impacted.

BUT I heard that some of the citizen where partying somewhere outside and asked the security not to close the floodgates – and it was too late….

Absolute cr*p. Again, if you don't live on La Torre, why on earth would you post suppostion/rumour/bollo*ks?  Helps no one!

In the meantime, the authorities have improved the situation.

The authorities, along with the Admin/Committee of La Torre have improved the situation significantly since 2019. Flood gates tend to be utilised if there appears to be any danger. The Committee are also working closely with the council/authorities to look at 'upstream' mitigations!

How often this type of rain occurs I do not like to think about because of the climate change.

We can only see what the future brings. No one knows.

Would be helpful if you stick to facts going forward!

Just google Flooding at La Torre Resort and there are lots of videos and reports. The Gota Fria of 2016 was worse than 2019…..its a phenomenon thats fairly unpredictable. Much work has been done to protect the properties but there hasn't been much prolonged heavy rain since 2019 to test it.

Thankyou for your reply the question seems to have caused a little bit of hostility that obviously wasn't my intention.

Thankyou for your reply i have seen the videos i was hoping that some flood alleviation measures had been taken but as you say they haven't been tested yet. Perhaps looking elsewhere to buy would be a wiser choice.

Do you know if there was any flooding on Las Terrazzas de la Torre?

this is from the forum…..

Phase 2 & 12 are not affected. On Phase 1 - The blocks affected according to Resortalia?s mail are: 17, 18, 28, 29, 30, 31 & 32. As far as I am aware this is mostly water in the "basement" under the apartment block. These have been pumped out during the weekend. There might be one or two ground floor apartments with some water in, but very few and to a limited extent. Resortalia can answer this. There is still a lod of dried mud on many roads. This is being cleared but will take time.
