Hi further to your post could you tell me what improvements have been made to the flood protection on la torre and has it been tested by the weather?

Hi

The flood gates have been technically improved and divert the flow of water over the golf course, rather than the resort streets.

There have been many heavy rains since 2019 and, so far, the defences have held well.

We haven't quite had Gota Fria conditions since, but as I mentioned in my earlier response, the positioning of the football pitches outside of the resort had a major impact on what happened in 2019, as there was a huge build up of water on the perimeter wall, which eventually collapsed and released a huge torrent of water further along from the flood defences.

I understand that the committee and administrators are also in discussion with local authorities to see if more can be done to divert the flow of water away from La Torre, but not sure what the state of play from that is.

Obviously no guarantees, but I like to think that La Torre is well equipped for future severe weather conditions.

Good luck with whatever decision you make.

this is from the forum…..

Phase 2 & 12 are not affected. On Phase 1 - The blocks affected according to Resortalia?s mail are: 17, 18, 28, 29, 30, 31 & 32. As far as I am aware this is mostly water in the "basement" under the apartment block. These have been pumped out during the weekend. There might be o...

...ne or two ground floor apartments with some water in, but very few and to a limited extent. Resortalia can answer this. There is still a lod of dried mud on many roads. This is being cleared but will take time.

Like La Torre, Terrazas have been make a range of improvements to reduce the impact of flooding. These include diverting water outside the resort, "cattle grid" channel across the entrance, plus better drainage around affected blocks. In addition at risk blocks now have flood gates at entrances.

So should be better, but as with La Torre, not tested.
