Hi Katrina

Many thanks for your reply.  We have heard so many different views on La Torre however after being on here we have heard some really good ones from people like yourself who have a property there.  We are coming over in June and will have a look around.  Good to know there is a solicitor on site and I've heard from a few people saying they used this one and their purchase went through without any hiccups.

We are in the process of working out costs etc as we are 53/54, still a bit away from receiving our pension,  however have no mortgage so whatever we receive for our house will need to cover the cost of a house in Spain and enough to keep us going for a while.  My husband is a partner in a building company here so will initially be back and forward to work hence the reason I didn't want to live somewhere deserted!!

Thanks again for your reply, good to hear positive comments re La Torre.

Regards

Caroline

Hi

I visited my friends apartment at la Torre in May I was blown away by the resort and i bought a wrap around balcony apartment before Brexit in June which is fantastic I absolutely love it

You need to speak to the agents on La Torre I used Nick Cherry at Murcia services who has actually lived at la Torre until recently and is a mind of information on the site

There have been problems with the site which have now been rectified and with the hotel opening the prices are going to increase quickly

I have visited the apartment 8  times since May using La Torre as a base to really look around the area

I like San Javier but the houses are 200k more expensive than La Torre for the same thing the nearer the beach the more expensive the house

I'm happy to be 15 minutes drive from the beach areas as in summer they are packed

There is also central heating at la Torre which is a godsend I have also lived in Cyprus and having no heating in winter is miserable

Roldan is like living in The villages outside Nicosia it's an industrial town full of friendly people

I have the same problem as you I would be there on my own at times as my husband is working

I like the security of La Torre I feel safe the security guards monitor hourly and you have an internal line to contact them directly

There is no crime on the resort ibreceive a report monthy

I can go 10minutes from resort and go to Valle Sol (local Spanish cafe /restaurant) or to Roldan where there are bars and restaurants

I have made friends in Amigos which is sports bar in Roldan

Where you'll meet loads of great people and establish friendships

Playing sport will help you in Spain

Anything else you'd like to know just drop me a line I'm back in Feb for two weeks

Hi

Thank you for all the helpful info.  After looking at other resorts I definitely prefer La Torre. Being only 15 minutes from the beach and airport is also a big draw towards that area.  We are going over in June and will have a good look round.  Good to know about the agent on site too. Are they able to do everything i.e. NIE numbers, setting up utilities etc.

As this will be our permanent home it's good to know there is life on the site and also nearby towns with amenities.

Regards

Caroline

Your solicitor deals with everything

The first thing they'll do is take you to the notary in San Javier to sign a power of attorney after that they deal with everything for you opening bank accounts,NIE numbers, direct debits you will have to register at the town hall as you're permanent residents they'll instruct you on how to do that

I used LS but  both solicitors on site are excellent

My deal  went through in 20 days as I was a cash buyer and LS had power of attorney for me and the seller

You will love it there

That's so good to know.  We too will be cash buyers so hopefully quite straight forward.  We were looking to rent first until we found a property however that may change if the right property came along.  Definitely finding all the comments about La Torre very positive.

We bought here 4 years ago..visit 6 times a year Iove it here peaceful and safe..the supermarket is well stocked and very handy.the hotel is due to open in the next few months which will bring  more restaurants.. theres a local indian that does free pickup and drop off ..ideal when friends are over so no one needs to drive ...we have the central heating on about an hour at night in winter months instead of all day in England.la torre is ideal location for the city and the beaches..  the train in balsicas goes to cartagena and murcia city..  wished we had  bought  it years ago. ..pinos bar a  good spot at night to meet up with people..

Good luck with your move x

Thanks for your reply.  We are coming over at the end of June and are renting an apartment at La Torre  so we can have a good look round.  We have visited Los Alcazares many times and this time decided to stay at La Torre to see if this is the kind of place we would like to live permanently.  Everyone I have spoken to do speak highly of the area.  Thanks again for your helpful information.

My husband and I have been planning our permanent move to Spain and are now in a position to sell up and move over.   We have spent the last 3 years visiting the area and having a look around and had initially thought La Torre sounded a good place to live however have recently read a lot of ...

...negative comments about the area and wondered if anyone who lives there can advise what it is really like.  The comments I have heard is that it's like a ghost town, many of the properties have been abandoned making the area look run down and many of the amenities are now closed.  I would love to hear from anyone who lives there all year round of what the community is like.

Hi

We do winters in Spain Sept - May with Christmas in UK and we love it. Apart from the restaurants not being open there are two bars that are open all year round.  We love eating in the many Spanish restaurants in the countryside round the resort.  There are plenty of people that permanently live on the resort and we've never felt it was a ghost town.

As to the houses being cold, all the properties on the resort have gas central heating and we have installed a Pellet Burner which with a 92.7%burn rate makes our villa toastie warm.

We love being in the countryside and enjoy the peace and quiet and secrurity on the resort whilst being a 15min trip to the coast.

Hope this helps

Hi Caroline, we bought off plan at La Torre and spend as much time as we can here! If it wasn't for family back in Wales we would be here permanently without a doubt! My husband and I love it here, we love the site always looks tidy and well kept, the choice of swimming pools, lovely views and nice and peaceful even in high season. We do go to the town centre on occasion but mainly walk or cycle to Roldan, where there are a lot of bars and restaurants and have made lots of very good friends there. Our town centre could do with a make over no doubt but with the hotel reopening this year and hopefully the restaurants then it will obviously improve in the near future. As I said we would have no hesitation in living here permanently but as said before would keep a bolt hole in UK as circumstances can change. Good luck with your decisions.
