I completely agree, although it’s hard to see why any Brit would not have imagination to see that Brexit would have a massive impact on travel, holiday homes and freedom of movement for them , just like it has for those from EU wanting to do those things in U.K. Leaving the EU meant exactly tha...

...t, and along with it all the advantageous (and disadvantages) that would go with that. A massive self inflicted wound is an understatement. Yet I’m sure we all know holiday home owners who still voted for Brexit; what the hell were they thinking?? Well, you reap what you sow; but the problem is those of us who voted remain still have to ‘reap’ what the Brexiteers ‘sowed’ for us! So sad, for so many.

I think that's called democracy! I don't believe in many decisions taken in the UK, but if the majority want it, they get it, that's the system like it or not. Politicians lie, I think it's in their job description and the current PM has a history of it. Many thousands of us in Britain are intelligent enough to weigh up the pros and cons of what Brexit had to offer and voted accordingly, without being influenced by the lies told on both sides!

As Anne2019 said above, this is a pointless debate.....Brexit is history and you're not going to change it. Enjoy your life in Spain and stop whinging. We're not here for long in this world anyway and Covid has made many of us realise that time is precious. Get over the Brexit result, it was for Britain, not the rest of the world!

Relax. Its a fast moving reality. British citizens can come here on holidays, without bank details.

When you get to Alicante, it will be anticlimactic, you will wander thru, without any interrogation, just a stamp in your passport, which allows 90 day tracking..

Thank you for that. I am relieved but I hope the same applies to Murcia airport which is where I am flying to.

Personally Im not whingeing; lucky for those that do live in Spain; I don’t, but had plans to live the winters there for 6 consecutive months. Add to that that my wife is German with ‘pre-settled’ status, and we live here in U.K, forgive me if I can’t help on a personal level, feeling that both she and I continue to live with the practical implications of that result regardless of whether we accept it or not. We are inevitably  gonna see it differently  than those of you who are resident in Spain if only because we sit outside the EU, and now you don’t if you have residency there. Regardless of voting for or against Brexit, that simple fact makes a huge difference.

What is stopping you from coming and spending 6 winter months here in Spain?

You simply apply for a Visa.    Problem solved.

But do remember - this was applicable AS EU MEMBERS pre-Brexit - if you spend more than 183 days in Spain you may become eligible to pay some taxes to the Spanish government.   You will be sent their Tax forms and have to fill them in accordingly.

Same applies to any country you visit for a prolonged period.

Not debating Brexit, but to think most people looked into the pros and cons and understood them is nonsense.

When I read this post, I  checked the date. No it was not December 28th (Día de los Santos Inocentes) or April 1st (April Fools Day) so I have to assume it was intended as a sarcastic comment.

If not, then it should have been.

A third country residencia visa application is at best is complicated. There is no simple pathway, a detailed application, a high annual income barrier, medical and police checks.

What ever you do, do not believe that a 90 day vida extension is problem solved.

Your opinion and you're entitled to it, but please do not generalise.

Think you will find most people did not have a clue about the implications of Brexit. Even those that thought they did have been proved wrong, partly due to lies from the Leave campaigners and Brexiteers.
