Hi everyone

Will be travelling to Puerto de Mazarron in June with our 2 small pet dogs.  First time taking them abroad so looking forward to having them with me on holidays in our new apartment.

Would love to hear from other pet owners on how easy is it to bring them into restaurants bars and cafes in the port and wider areas.  Can you get refused ? Do you ask permission to bring them in?

I don’t want to leave them behind in what is  a new strange apartment as one dog is a cryer when we are gone.
I always like the way dogs go everywhere with their owners when on holiday and so different to where I’m from🐶

There is generally no problem with outside seating restaurants, especially if booking a table and sy you are bring a dog. Viggos dont mind at all and is one of the best value for money restaurants on the front. but book first very popular.

I can't think of any restaurant that doesn't allow dogs at the outside tables. Many now also allow them inside following the recent changes in the Animal Welfare laws in Spain which say that they must be allowed access to transport, restaurants, bars and shops. Here is link that summarises the changes pretty well: https://murciatoday.com/animal-welfare-law-comes-into-force-in-spain-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-new-regulations_2249717-a.html#:~:text=From%20now%20on%2C%20pets%20must,%2C%20hotels%2C%20restaurants%20and%20bars.

You should find that most if not all restaurants will allow dogs at outside tables, on terraces, etc. - but less likely inside (unless, it commonly appears, you are a regular / friend of the owner!). It's particularly helpful if your dogs are small and well-behaved, as most pet dogs owned by Spaniards are small - they seem to regard bigger dogs as working dogs (guard dogs, hunting dogs). I have a German Shepherd Dog and have frequently had him with me at outside tables to bars in PdM and other places. Unfortunately, it appears small dogs are intimidated by him (or they have 'small dog syndrome'!) and they get a bit barky!

I have 1 with small dog syndrome and the bigger the dog the louder she gets.
