Carzooo thks would they charge for money going in direct debits coming out normal banking stuff or is it just a monthly  fee pls steve

Direct debits to electric and water and internet no charge. I transfer money using transferwise which has no charge by la Caixa

Annual Non Resident fee which I think was another 20 or so.

Makes sense to join a bank near you. As other banks will charge you for ATM withdrawals.

Take a look at Santander 123 account

I’ve been with them for just over a year with no problems.

Works the same as the U.K. just with slight differences in the maximum amount you can earn on.

No charges if you deposit €600 a month and have the direct debits going out each month.

Feel Happy and secured with Sabadell bank. Non resident fees 30 euros per quarter. Have used them for 2 years.  Easy online banking. Even have our home owners insurance with them.  So far so good. Good luck.

We live here but classed as non resident. Only thing we didn’t qualify was for the shares

If you have direct debits and deposit €600 a month there’s no charges and you get interest on what you have in your account each month.

We also got our private medical insurance through them too which was a great deal.

Pop in and have a chat with Maria who speaks perfect English I definitely can recommend santander.

Hi my names steve as a non resident   hoping to buy a property very soon I havent got a clue about what bank to use   banking charges direct debit etc any fees Just what to leave money in without the sneaky charges any help greatly appreciated steve

We bought a property last November. Our solicitor opened a bank account for us with caja rural. I was quite surprised by all the bank charges, given that he told us there would be very small charges with the account. I guess it depends what you call small. I think we are lucky in the uk! caja rural charge 18 euros 1/4 and 18 euros annually for the debit cards. You need a pension or salary going into the account monthly to avoid paying the quarterly 18 euro fee. Not possible as we are non residents.
