Hello Karen

We are with Iberdrola on the day/night rate using a smart meter, our December bill was €57.15 for a 3 bed villa with a pool (no pool heater), we spent 7 days there over Christmas.

I buy energy as part of my job and have a spreadsheet (sad I know !) monitoring our monthly consumption for the last 26 months or so

Our prices have not increased recently (apart from the day/night split) but what is important only 33% of our December Bill was actually consumption (189 kwh), the rest was made up as follows :

Daily charge 44%

Electricity Tax 4%

Meter rental 2%

IVA (Vat) 17%

If possible, please check your account details online and check your last 6 bills or so to check for any variances.

It doesn`t take a lot of consumption to get to €50-60 !

Hope it helps

Anthony

Hi

We too have had an increase in electricity from 22 euros to 56 euros for November and December, we also lock up and leave, turning water and electricity off.

The bill is estimated, I have been told I have to pay this bill even though it is estimated, is this correct.  We will change to a smart meter soon which hopefully will be better

Hi Tracy62

I am unsure of the procedure but for the sum involved I would not risk creating a default on your account, however I would suggest putting your query in writing so at least it is on record.

We had a few months where our invoice was not documenting the actual consumption, I notified Iberdrola of the fact even though in these instances we were underpaying...I didn`t want a surprise in 6 months time !

Regards

Anthony

Mine are generally actual readings, either we or a good friend provides a reading when we are over. We have had an issue with the invoices not documenting the readings but now we are back to normal and December was pretty spot on, we left 30th December and the reading was accurate.

regards

Anthony

I have now checked my bill and it is correct , the €68 was standing charge only for 2 months, the charges have gone up. I think this is terrible it's a lot cheaper for electric in the U.K.

Anybody know of other electric companies that are better priced

The IVA is now 21%

Hi Anthony

Thanks for your information and   I am going to download the app and look at the

Tariff too.  I will also write to Iberdrola to make sure it is documented, but from what I am reading it probably is correct

Thank you
