REVOLUT There's no fee and no 'best' rate, it's the actual exchange rate at the moment you transfer. I was watching the exchange rate a couple of weeks ago and exchanged when it was over €1.20. It really is a terrific account to use.

Thanks for that. Sounds great. Will look into that.

As someone proposed Revolut, there are more options of online cards/accounts that can be used to pay with really good conversations and no fees. These are two that we normally use and recommend:

I assume the same way as all other banks? Their ordinary account, which is the one I've used for three years, is free.  There's a premium account which charges £6.99 a month, I think you just get larger transactions, but don't really know because I've never needed it. They also have a business account. They are fantastic, very simple to use and you have everything on your phone. I've now put my other bank accounts on my phone too, keeps it all so simple.

We've used Revolut successfully for everything from paying large sums - the deposit on our Spanish property purchase, for example - to everyday spends when in Spain (works as a Mastercard debit card).

Load it from a UK account and then exchange for the very best exchange rate, live - as described elsewhere; then spend in Spain, or transfer to a Spanish bank account. Or just pay direct debits, etc. directly from the Revolut account.

The only downside is that there is no telephone customer service, it's all via webchat.

Hi Rich, one thing you didn't mention is that you can use it in the UK too, so you don't have to worry about putting more money onto it than you think you might need. It's win/win all the way.

TransferWise.

The best rates & very quick transfers.

Money in your Spanish bank account within seconds.

Been using them for years.

Hi Roland,

I have used Transferwise to transfer into my Sabadell account. Just tried to transfer some euros from Sabadell back to UK and ran into problems. When doing euros to gbp do I have to use the "Trustly"option ?

Cheers

John
