Not sure of the reason but in El Carmoli and Los Alcazares there are far fewer flies than in the last two summers. Last July was awful but this year just a few buzzing about and less than at home in the UK.
Anyone know the reason?
Bet I have jinxed it now and there will be swarms of the buggers tomorrow!🤣

I've no idea why either, Andy. But thanks for starting my day with a smile.
If the 'little buggers' do appear in swarms now we'll know who to blame anyway :-))

Swifts eat hundreds of small black flies each day and with thousands of them on the wing from 6am to 10pm over Los Alcázares, they virtually remove the flies from the environment. When they disappear in September-October suddenly the flies return but only for a while.
