My partner Lainey and I (plus 2 ditzy and very energetic Italian Greyhounds and 1 Siamese cat) will be moving from the UK on 26th April to live long term in a rented property in Urb. La Pinada a few minutes drive north of Sucina. I've already been told by my youngest daughter how nice the area is (her best friends parents own a villa in the locale) and we're really looking forward to our new life (although naturally quite nervous)....We appreciate that we're going to need assistance with many things....obtaining an NIE for example, which internet provider being another unknown....There must be dozens, if not hundreds of things I could ask about but don't want to put people off !

I hope that by asking questions the ex pat and local community can help us find our feet in a relatively short time.....I humbly apologise in advance but all of you good-hearted people are in the most fantastic position to make our transit to our new life a smooth and (hopefully) trouble free experience

Gracias por el tiempo.....

Hi Nick and Rainey my partner and I are doing the same as u.  Can I ask who u used for yr rental property please.

All very exciting and scary too.  We have a mad weimaraner - Wilma.

R u driving and shuttle or driving and ferry?

We already have our Nie as we came over couple weeks ago to see a solicitor to answer tax eye questions and he arranged it for us.  He will also arrange our utilities too and bank account which took a lot off our shoulders although people on these sites have done it themselves.  Just personal choice.

Our house here is still going thru and we can't wait to come over.

Hi Karen

Exciting times....

We were fortunate with our La Pinada rental property......My partner found the property through a Facebook forum (Italian Greyhound) and we've been dealing with the landlady directly ever since....unfortunately we aren't able to help out with anyone to do with rental property.

We're going via Plymouth/Roscoff overnight on 26th April, then driving to Zaragoza on 27th, staying overnight and then driving to the villa the next day 28th. The dogs/cat are going via road through the Chunnel....one overnight stop in Dover on the 26th, drive through France, another overnight in France 27th and then into Spain arriving at the villa the afternoon of the 28th April.

I'm assuming you're looking to rent in Sucina? It might be an idea to post another topic/question here if that's the case!

We're going to arrange our NIE cards ourselves.....along with a load more stuff, car registration etc etc.....Nothing like a challenge and we'll have the time to do it all.....no doubt we'll end up either loving or hating the Spanish bureaucracy...

Looking forward to meeting you in the very near future....Can you PM me and I'll let you have our Spanish mobile

hi Lainey  and nick we are moving to cieza last week June to a lovely rental property very excited and nervous too, we have many friends over in Spain as I rescue Spanish dogs, if you ever need a dog and house sitter keep us in mind as from July we are called topaz house and dog sitters, hope your move goes well for next week, and if you ever want to meet up for a coffee somewhere that would be great x

Hi Maz and Tony

Thanks for the reply....Are you guys doing the permanent move thing? Cieza not too far from our urbanisation...I reckon 20-30 kms or so, and it would be great to meet for a coffee and and a chat.

Your new life sounds like a bit of a challenge, rescue dogs aren't easy and from what we already know there are lots that need a good home, especially the Galgos! We both wish you the very best in your venture. It's also very good of you to offer to dog/house sit for us should we need it.....especially as we don't even know each other (hopefully that'll change from July)

Are you bringing any 'hounds' with you? Lord, so many other questions but can't bombard you with those right now....

I'll pm you my mobile numbers. We have already got a Spanish one but I've recently hit a deal with Vodafone that means I can use my existing UK number in Spain and to call the UK without ANY extra costs....Long story, maybe I'll tell you all about it lol

Cheers for now

Nick and Lainey
