Private health care
Does anyone know the best place to get private health care suitable for residency? Have had quotes for 2 people. ASSSA €142 p/m. Sanitas €183 p/m. Tailor Made €193 p/m. Cigna €295 p/m. Anyone had better quotes than these?

If you are going for Residencia, you will (in a year or 2) be out of the UK tax system and, arguably, out of the UK NHS.
So it's not just about the cost. Make sure the quotes are for like-for-like insurance. Make sure the offers meet your needs.
For example, in cancer treatment, not all policies cover the expensive complimentary drugs that go with chemotherapy (anti-sickness, anti-ulcerative, anti-inflammatory)
I am 60. My wife is 62. We pay 147 Euros/month for our health insurance. We use DKV. We each have a (separate) excess capped at 600 Euros/year. As we found out last year, this coverage includes the complimentary drugs.

Hi Anthony,
we’ve just gone through this for Residentia ourselves, we used Seguros de Salud. It cost €1750 per year for us both. You can’t do monthly, as the authorities insist you pay for the year in advance. People used to pay the first month then cancel after they got residentia, so they now insist you provide proof of a years payment upfront. We had to show a bank statement and the policy to this effect.
However, be aware non of them will not cover any pre existing conditions. I am diabetic and was initially turned down by the first company I approached. Salud did cover me, but any diabetic related conditions, plus heart issues (I don’t have any heart problems!) is not covered.
After the 12 months you can then go into the Spanish NHS. The cost for this is around €60 per person per month I’m told if your under retirement age. And they do not exclude pre existing conditions.
As much as I don’t like paying (who does!) I totally agree; why should anyone be a drain on Spain just because we want to live in their country. Hence health insurance and the need to prove you have adequate Financial means to support yourself.
Hope this helps?
